There is more than one title on this flight, please take a moment to locate the closest title to you, taking into account that it may be behind you.

If this fight loses pressure, bags of hot air will descend - wait, maybe even if it doesn't lose pressure...

Yikes. I say, Yikes.

EDIT: My horror at the above photo is completely off-topic. Let's bring this post back into focus by claiming to be preparing a song this week. I know someone who is house-sitting at a place that has a grand piano, so I'm gonna go over with my digital 4-track and see what I can come up with.

I'm returning home on Friday, by which point I may or may not speak German, as it were. No guarantees.

For those who don't know I've had a tough couple of months. And coming out of this dark patch, I've come to realize that I've been lacking focus. So I am going to attempt to participate into a fight a week until March of 2006. Yes, that means everyone dealing with a lot of antifolk g^2 (but that's my thing) except when I'm collaborating. But I think I need to do this. (Plus, I finally have my equipment set up in a place where I can record in peace.) Wish me luck.

I predict Turn the Power On will be this week's winner in the Most Entries category, with Man Speaking German coming in dead last.

Though I think it is admirable that underdogs will get a good chance at the other fights due to the imbalance, I imagine some more effort could probably go into producing viable titles. :) But then I am a hopeless whiner.

I don't know if I agree with you, Sparks. Just because SFers like speaking German. Example- "Violet Wants It Her Way" by Klownhole.

Hmmm that argument doesn't really make sense, Sparks, unless you're suggesting the 'most viable' titles will always attract the 'best' songwriters .....

And anyway winning a fight against an 12 second spoons 'n' piano instrumental recorded on a computer mic and a 7 minute sound collage by f*Art in a Jar, has no real bragging rights, does it? it's kind of like winning a little league by taking in a team of professionals.

ps I am talking about a metaphorical fight here, and I am and always will be a member of that metaphorical f*Art in a Jar :)

j$

Oh by the way I will be in 'man speaking german' - with an ode to Kompressor.

Really, M, Y and K all have a good chance at the "loser fight of the week" spot. Snow Fort will surely pull in some less-than-amusing rap attempts, to its credit.

And no, I'm sure the minor fights attract good fighters as well--but it is always embarrassing when a taltentless oddball pulls a win out of his pocket due to poor competition or "voting irregularity". Keado is still the timeless example.

I don't think I know what that means, but I somehow still assure you that I rarely do anything but.

Is that a brit-ism?

Sparks, I respect you, but really. How aren't all four titles really awesome this week? And what about "Snow Fort" do you think lends itself particularly to bad rap?

Can you post the .pdf we made of the rules we all agreed upon for deciding which titles everyone has to think are awesome? Because I cannot find my copy anywhere.

it took me awhile, but searching through the old dumbrella forums i found the old links..
theres actually 2 .pdf files, the original rules, and then the revise version, as people kept changing their minds.

hope it helps, but i doubt you'll get anything out of it.

Snow fort brings back memories.

Don't know if I'll actually put them into song... or riff....or a collab... I think a title is what you make of it....either it inspires you or it doesn't . That's half the charm of the competition though.
