Hey gang...

Thought I'd drop this here in case anyone here is interested in Monome-ery. I've got two 40h kits that I haven't had the chance, nor will I, to build into the ultra cool Monome.

If you're interested, send me an email at thehipcola (at) gmail (dot) com .

I'd sell both for $425US (paid $264US each), or each one for $220US. Shipping paid by the lucky Monome-ist.

This is purely so I can turn these into a single, pre-assembled one!

Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled muzzzik, yo!

Rob

I just Googled these and even watched a couple youtube vids and I still don't quite understand what this is. I figured who better to ask a dumb question than me, right?

I suppose you didn't explain it because if someone doesn't know what it is, then he/she probably is not your buying audience, lol.

My only question. Can this thing make me have one of those awesome light shows with my Christmas lights on my house where they are flashing to music, etc? Because it looks to me like it's a mini version of one of those light shows.

yah.. I didn't even think to link up videos and stuff. Maybe I should. But I figure the distance between not knowing what one is/does, and buying a kit which requires a fair bit of assembly and soldering is pretty great... :)

Near as I can tell, it's totally what you need for making all of your Xmas light dreams come true, BLT! :) Quasi-more seriously, I think it's many things. One, you can set it up as a pretty swank Ableton Live controller. Two, you can use any of the free, crazy applications that are designed by the community and which are free, to mangle and play with audio samples or streams. It's a really cool trigger pad of sorts, and I think the LED feedback in the buttons makes it a pretty fun gizmo to play with. Watching videos of people who know how to use it is fairly mesmerizing. I'm always interested in new interfaces which connect your brain to your music in interesting ways. This one happens to be really well supported, well developed and totally indie, which is super cool. The community of people pushing this tech further is very open and sharing too.

And I'm totally too busy (read: lazy) to build them!!

This might sound funny, but I want to build it, and I don't really care what it does.
...well, as long as it doesn't cause genocide or something of that nature. If I build it, I want smiles. :P
