I would be totally stoked to come to NYC again! The Sidewalk Café was a sweet venue.

Let me add another vote to the "August is only so/so," though. School starts stupidly early here at KSU (August 15, probably, and I need to be here that Thursday/Friday beforehand for departmental meetings.) The first week of August would be preferable. (That weekend is my birthday to boot!)

Just to be totally radical, what about mid-May?

The week before Memorial Day, then? I'm done by the 10th... Man, why does my university have to have such a wacky schedule?

... duh ... this just occurred to me: why not a Doodle, Niv? Get all the available dates from Ben and then we'll just straight-up vote on it. Easy-peezy-lemon-squeezy.

Oh jeeze, it's about time something like that existed. I'd thought about building something like that myself but never got around to it. Glad someone else had the wherewithal to actually make it happen.

Okay. I asked Ben for a bunch of open dates for June & August at Sidewalk. Here's a Doodle poll.

Hm, would we be planning on it being a one-day event? Or are we going to look for another venue for the day before/after the one at Sidewalk? Or are we going to basically be limited to a Tuesday/Wednesday show? (Fine by me, but that might limit our audience as well as the locals' participation.)

We can do 2 nights at Sidewalk with a Tues/Wed or a Sun/Tues (Monday is Open Stage). But we can always also do a second night at a different venue too. There are many options. I just wanna see what the SF community says about the dates Ben gave me.

Gotcha. I'm sure NYC has no shortage of venues anyway. The music scene there always struck me as a bit more open and casual than the one in SF.

My preference is to have at least one show on a Saturday.

I vote for June!!! The weather is better in NYC, and also I can't take the time off in August either. Like Ken, I work for UC Berkeley, and all the students come back in August.
PLUS Ken, Fluffy, and Glenn Case all celebrate their birthdays on 6/14!!! We should most def have some sort fo SFL event on this day.
June folks, June, and did I mention, June?

Voted, but slightly erg. I teach in the summer, too, so the middle of the week is difficult to do. However, I always have long weekends: Friday through Sunday. Honestly, my only two completely free weeks are May 22-28 and August 7 - 13.

So, for me, the best dates will be either during the week in early August or over any given Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

I need more input. The more responses I get, the better I can narrow things down.

(If it ends up being a Sunday show, I will find a place for a Saturday show as well)

I don't know at all what my work schedule is going to look like by then, so I pretty much plan on asking for about a week off around that time and calling in sick if it's not granted. As such, I'm open to whenever, just so long as it's decided upon more than, like, two months in advance.

usually i'm pretty good with the taglines but i got nothing here. maybe it's because NYC needs no tagline.

"rockers and rockettes" maybe?

instead of the R. Crumb theme, Spud could do a bunch of Songfighters line dancing. :O

Looking at the current results of the polls. It's looking like June 12th or August 14th. Sidewalk has their yearly Antifolk Summer Festival in August. We may wanna go with the earlier date so we stand out a little more.

Well then we will definitely have to have an EIEBC reunion for our one hit song.
