Man Speaking German by Johnny Cashpoint (featuring Hoosenbergler)

Ja!

If you want to impress her, just put on Kompressor
Teutonic & bubonic, transatlantic supersonic

I'm wearing a thong that's got Kompressor's face on
Synth Crush Fear Death
All the way from Germany, Andreas come and save us!
K.O.M. P.R.E. S.S.O.R. Dance with me

Ja Ja Kompressor - Hender Hoch!

Don't bow to the pressure, just put on Kompressor,
He's the Pop Professor, gonna make your life much better

One man speaking German, who can do? Kompressor can
Synth & Crush & Fear & Death
Bremen Superhero, Sheisseladen pistolero
K.O.M. P.R.E. S.S.O.R. Dance with me

One man speaking German, who can do? Kompressor can (Yeah, yeah!)
All the way from Germany, Andreas come and save us (Bitte, bitte!)
Wearing a thong that's got Kompressor's face on &
On & on & on & on & on & on & on & on ...

My German's pretty non-existent, but Hender Hoch means 'Hands Up!' I believe, and Sheisseladen literally means 'shit shop' - according to my guidebook, it's used to mean something which is cool but essentially empty, which seemed to me to sum up what Kompressor is fighting against. You're the type of diaper licking rock and roll queen
In slippers, whip her!
Chipper
Top of the morning to ya
Hallelujah
Red faced sucker with a truck and a ham and cheese
Get out, Get out, Get out
And take your sandwich with you
It's true
The man speaking German is disturbing all the neighborhood geeks
Crib death
Wished it
Fishhead
Clobber the chocoholic
Frolic
Faultless
Now

I'm on my knees
You've got the keys
And lightning strikes the paper clip necklace you wear, tangled with hair
I'll kill the clairvoyant voyeur stalking empty coffins

Teacher's got a chalkboard - lock your knees
Suffer, love her
Supper's getting so cold that it's turned blue
Like you
Light bulb's burned out now we gotta strain to see
A sausage party where the sauce is 60/40 for the last time
All mine
Don't wait to calibrate the hate machine
Close it up tight and stick a rocket in the socket
Grab your ear plugs
Group hug
True love
Now

You're on your knees
No ham and cheese
Till the necklace gets put on
I'll be counting these bats
Flying so fast
Hope I can catch just one
I'm so hungry

Write your congressman and till him that we're totally tee'd
Crib death - it's best
Ingest Mescaline and Animal Crackers
I'd smack her
But she's an actor
(Actress)

Blind date
Something says I can't wait
Ebarrassed that I'm scared cause I feel like a prostate
Damming up the piss flow
Kids know this is not a kid's show
Movie star stripping
And her legs are slipping around my neck now[/b]

Man Speaking German (Ein Liebeslied)
by Kapitano

Leiser Schatten in der schwarzen Nacht
(Silent shadow in the black night)
A few words and a friendship sparked
Ein Liebeslied
(A lovesong)

Weg vom Haus, Er kann English klein
(Away from home, he can speak english a little)
Soldatjunge, took him back to mine
(Soldierboy...)
Das ist ein Liebeslied
(This is a lovesong)

Sprachen wir, dann Er kuessten Mich
(We spoke, then he kissed me)
few weeks together, knew it would soon finish
Ein Liebeslied
(A lovesong)

Bald musste Er nach Heimat gehen
(Soon he had to go home)
Ich begriff but didn't want it to end
(I understood...)
Das ist ein Liebeslied
(This is a lovesong)

Die Schmerz verblassen mit Zeit
Liebe ist eine Sorte Verruecktheit
Du bist weit weg doch
Ich denke an Sie noch
(Pain fades with time
Love is a kind of madness
You are far away but
I still think of you)

Unsere Zeit, Ging Es so schnel
(Our time, it went so fast)
Brief time together, got to know you so well
Ein Liebeslied
(A lovesong)

Phantasie oder ein Alptraum?
(Fantasy or a nightmare?)
Ruhe halten, i must stay calm
(Stay calm...)
Das ist ein Liebeslied
(This is a lovesong)

Die Schmerz verblassen mit Zeit
Liebe ist eine Sorte Verrücktheit
(Pain fades with time
Love is a kind of madness)

Wir haben ein Geheimnis, ja
(We have a secret, yes)
You could be close but it seems so far
Ein Liebeslied
(A lovesong)

Wir habe froelich Gedaechtnis
(We have happy memories)
i will always remember this
Das ist ein liebeslied
(This is a lovesong)

Du bist weit weg doch
Ich denke an Sie noch
(You are far away but
I still think of you)

I make no claims to the accuracy of my German. This was written with the aid of several automated dictionaries, and half remembered grammar from a decade ago. If it's wrong, just remember the protagonist is not a native speaker - he's just in love with someone who is.

I don't speak German; I know what the german phrases used SHOULD translate as, and have placed the translated meaning in [brackets]. I'm sure the pronounciation is atrocious.

Man Speaking German

Crossing Europe on a train
heading out beyond Cologne
Thinking of my missing flame
wish we'd stayed back home
instead of drifting toward the Rhine
Neither speaking, killing time

My German doesn't go that far
I'm more a francophile at heart
and when we stopped inside a bar
she shot off in the dark
and minutes later there they were
Big strong man with drinks, and her

He said "[you are attractive]" which means "I love you so"
or maybe it doesn't; I really don't know
but he chatted her up and he led her astray
The man speaking German took my woman away
The man speaking German took my woman away

Artsy glasses he had on
and his hair was free of curl
Left a strong impression on
my Prussian-loving girl
He looked at her and said to me
"[tasty American chick]", I don't know what that means

She introduced us both in French
I tried to smile, I said "Bonjour"
He shook my hand and turned away
then put his arm around her
It was a message clear as day
I quickly turned and walked away

Then he said "[bye for now!]" and I said "Oh well"
Maybe I'm better off but I really can't tell
Since he chatted her up and he led her astray
The man speaking German took my woman away
The man speaking German took my woman away

Lyrics For Man Speaking German - Ross Durand

by Ross
There's a man speaking German on the corner
And I don't understand a thing that he says
He could be asking for a quarter
Or if Jesus is my personal savior
And I just nod and walk away, 'Cause it's been a trying day

I go upstairs to my apartment
And I turn on the TV and grab a drink
On the news they're showing wars and what the stocks meant
It makes my head spin I don't know what to think
And through the window I can hear a man speaking German on the corner

And it sounds like he means what he's sayin'
And like it would make sense to me
And the talking heads on TV speaking English
Are saying things that sound foreign to me

So I open up the window
And I turn off my TV set
These words will go the way the wind goes
And somehow they're the most sense I've hear today yet
And I relax to the sound of the man speaking German on the corner
