Does this need to be a new alliance?

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
I had a brilliant idea, then I realized that out of everyone I know, only about four people could possibly help me accomplish it. Three of them are in the competition, and one is a judge. Dang it.

so we are not meant to use someone from the contest at all then either? and most likely a new face for us as well (what I'm supposing).Generic wrote:I had a brilliant idea, then I realized that out of everyone I know, only about four people could possibly help me accomplish it. Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
My girlfriend already wrote lyrics. She's not so great at music, but she wants to help.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

I believe that a standard has been set in the past that collaborations with current contestants/judges are not okay, but collaborations with people eliminated this year are okay.Generic wrote:Yeah, I'm considering asking anyway. Just ask Tex Beaumont.
@ranger den - does not need to be a new face to you - at least in the past.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
[scratch that. fatal inaccuracy.]
I don't see much point in the judges getting involved if two participants agree to collaborate. Nonetheless, I'll defer to the jury. Is there a ruling on using other combatants as duet partners?

Yes - collaborations with Tex Beaumont are perfectly fine. Though I doubt he will agree to be in it.Ross wrote:I believe that a standard has been set in the past that collaborations with current contestants/judges are not okay, but collaborations with people eliminated this year are okay.

Sid Denison however would be happy to have a crack.

It was established in Nur Ein II Round 3 that there was to be no "cross- pollination" of active contestants.I don't see much point in the judges getting involved if two participants agree to collaborate. Nonetheless, I'll defer to the jury. Is there a ruling on using other combatants as duet partners?
If this has changed, please let us know.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
I'm writing my song about a cross dressing male prostitute named Al Liance that was ironically born without any holes, so the only way he can make money is by giving handies to unsuspecting businessmen that come to town for conventions. My duet will be me and my more attractive persona, Anita Mandalay.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
I am of the opinion that a "duet with a guest" means a vocal duet, although I'm not a judge I would consider anything else to not be meeting the challenge.dantes wrote:You can do guitar duets? I thought only vocals.Lunkhead wrote:I'm not competing this week, how about a guitar duet, glennny?
That being said, I am VERY happy to say that the person I've asked to duet with me has accepted.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
Ask an eliminated Nureiner, that's one idea. Ask someone on the message board. Ask 10 people and maybe someone will accept.dantes wrote:I don't know who I could ask... :/
In Nur Ein IV it needed a guest rapper and my then-9 year old son Jack did it. Of course that was an example where my cleverness didn't work again; I wrote the part for him singing as my son but got eliminated in that round. Kinda like Round Zero, Sleep Tight, where I was the only one of the 25 entrants to have the mandatory whistling be a lyrical part of the song, and was rewarded with a second-to-last finish.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Three
I don't know if I'm comfortable with just asking a random stranger. And I can't be sure I'll get it or that it will be of sufficient quality then.bambamoozle wrote:Ask an eliminated Nureiner, that's one idea. Ask someone on the message board.
