Don't we usually get the new challenge after receiving the scores?

Hey, we're running a little ragged here. Things have to get done, and people have to do stuff and the buttons need to get pushed. Scores are being tabulated as we speak.dantes wrote:Don't we usually get the new challenge after receiving the scores?

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
Funny, I had a EKG machine that went to a flat line at the end of my pn7 song, but went with the record has ended skipping sound instead because it seemed to fit the challenge better.

Nice try, jast. The reach arounds have all been passed out.
But maybe you can give me online singing lessons. You mentioned monitors. I record and mix on headphones. Could that be a problem?

You don't need singing lessons. You need Alcoholic's Anonymous.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Yeah, I already tried AAA, but they tried to sell me auto insurance. So I stumbled across the street to AA. They didn't help my singing, but they did teach me this song.Manhattan Glutton wrote:You don't need singing lessons. You need Alcoholic's Anonymous.
Well i stumbled in at 2 am all drunk and full of smoke
My wife said "I have had enough, that's it i'm sick, get out"
So i stumbled down to kellys pub across the edge of town
And told the boys me story, and we had another round
Now we drink
And drink and drink
And drink and drink
And drink and fight
Yes, we drink
And drink and drink
And drink and drink
And drink and fight

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
There is no sane way to record vocals without headphones, I think. I've heard, though, that if the stuff that plays on the headphones is too loud or too quiet compared to your singing during recording, it screws up your pitch perception and the vocals are more likely to end up pitchy. So, try playing the backing track louder or quieter during recording.Billy's Little Trip wrote:You mentioned monitors. I record and mix on headphones. Could that be a problem?

Are you going into politics? Because either of these methods might be the right answer, lol.jast wrote:There is no sane way to record vocals without headphones, I think. I've noticed that when the backing music is

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
Some people flip one headphone the wrong way or otherwise take it off an ear so as to hear the playback in one ear and their natural voice in the other. Just make sure that if you leave playback going out of that headphone that it doesn't get picked up by your mic.
EDIT: Also, you can actually record vocals without headphones. Ken's set that up for BSS and other Song Fight! bands in the past. Usually it involves something like having the music on low on the speakers, and point the mic away from the speakers, and sing loud.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
I just edited myself up above. All I need is to feel the music and get in the right mood. When I'm tiptoeing on my vocals, I get.....timid? Or maybe too over conscious? I find that when I let it loose and let my real self out, I hit the mark without trying.

Someone should sticky this thread so it's at the top. I totally missed it for about a day. :p Or I could just stop being lazy & read more than 3 lines...but I would rather stay lazy.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
Oh, yeah, I do the "headphones on one ear" thing. That way I can turn the playback up quite a bit more without losing perception of my own pitch.

Re: Nur Ein VI: Round Five
I do my vocals (no snickering!) through headphones with the beat up, music down. This helps me with my pitch. I never mix through phones, though.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.
