Another free lyric for the taking:
Devils live in a quiet pond
Wearing a thong with Kompressor's face on
Heh. I love that lyric, J$.

I've got a fun idea for "Our Love Violates Corporate Policy," but I don't have access to my guitars till the last week of March. Anyone wanna collab?

I have, completely against my will, been slowly writing lyrics in my mind for "Devils Live In A Quiet Pond". What are the odds? Has cashpoint's day come at last? Stay tuned. Or don't.
Sigh

I was looking forward to taking a lot of time with this next song (my second for songfight), but my entire weekend is taken up by something else, so I have to finish the song by tomorrow night -- and still be up at 6am saturday morning.
So, I just spent the last three hours writing the lyrics, melody and rhythm. It was SUPPOSED to be "Me the Merciless" (which is a delightful title), but alas, much as my attempt at "Snow Fort" became "Man Speaking German", it appears this song desperately wants to be "Our Love Violates Corporate Policy".
Incidentally, J$'s thong-kompressor line has infiltrated my songwriting judgement -- I find myself reading a line and thinking "is that as funny as the thong-kompressor line?" Invariably I am disappointed.

They are 4 wonderful titles.
Unfortunately - with new job and moving house I will be out of action at least till Easter.
Will try to throw some lyrics out for scavengers in the meantime if I get a chance
- and 8LO, great job on putting our collab. together! You seem to have been a very busy little octopus last week!

Me the mer-ci-less, always chasing a guess...was randomly strumming my guitar after the bar last night, came up with some chords and a vocal melody. It's me, the merciless, all the way baby.

I'm gonna try something for Merciless as well. Just finished laying down drum and guitar parts, right over the drum and guitar parts for another song I was working on... aaarrrrggghhhh!
We have an exercise in composition class, to compose something making interesting (or at least deliberate) use of "repetition" in the song, so maybe it'll turn out to be merciless in a Philip Glass sorta way...

I like that exercise. Would love to hear a repetitive instrument or vocal line slowly change about every 4-8 bars, until by the end it is still repeating but has slowly morphed into something very different. Gettin' psyched!

The titles are nothing short of fantastic this week, especially M and K. I hope to write some lyrics for either of those or both, so if you would like to see them and possibly use them, feel free to PM me.

Well I just finished my "Me the Merciless." It probably won't be a crowd-pleaser. Which I have to say is a shocker. Um, anyway, it was done in about 20 minutes because I'm in a rush as I am heading out on a backpacking trip tomorrow. It was originally going to be an escape from form and actually be really tight, organized, and well-recorded. And now it's an improvisation built on noise and improvised lyrics based around one pre-written phrase, "Me the merciless/ Heart full of piss."
Love,
Luke Henley

there was a swirling mass of water that lived in a quiet pond
it asked permission from its master to visit the lands beyond
and its master allowed it to fly
so the winds swept the whirlpool across the sky...
ummm and devils.

I hope so, because I love all y'all. Which isn't to say my music will ever indulge my audience more than it indulges me.
