SF: Live 2012 Early Discussion

So, Yanks & Banks was awesome. I want to do it again and make it awesomer. Chatting with random folks, I tossed the idea around to bring SFL back to Atlanta in the future. You want to schedule that for 2012 or 2013? I know it's tradition to flip coasts, so I'm not married to a date.
I'm an organizer-type, so here's some ideas I have:
1) Block of hotel rooms. We'll all get a nice rate and be able to meet up for socializing with ease.
2) Eddie's Attic :

3) Little Five Points :

4) Piedmont Park :

I was trying to get people on board with Madison, WI, since I can easily rent out a park and have tons of live equipment, but it seems nobody wants to come here.

I'm in favor of Madison if and only if it is called Song Fight Cheese and Curds.

Whatever happens, I want to write up (as soon as I get the f out of JFK and home and have time) a list of things the organizers should provide, so folks have some kind of clear starting point for knowing what they're signing up for if they volunteer to host. Anyway, I'd prefer Atlanta over Madison, but I'd prefer West Coast over either.

Or if we want to repeat a city again I would vote for Austin...

I would love the opportunity to host.
I don't want to speak for Spud, but I think he also expressed an interest at some point in bringing the show back to Seattle.
So possible candidates for 2012 would be
1.) Atlanta
2.)
Wisconsin Madison
3.) Seattle
4.) Austin
I'll go ahead and list some preliminary pros and cons, and y'all can agree or bicker as you see fit.
Atlanta
Pros:
-Big city with lots to do
-Multiple participants in the area
Cons:
-It was in Atlanta back in 2007.
-It's freaking HOT in Georgia in the summer
Wisconsin Madison
Pros:
-We've never done a show in the midwest before
Cons:
-Out of the way for many particpants
-Only one participant in the area
Seattle
Pros:
-Hosted by Fightmaster
-It will have been nine years since the last time the show was in Seattle
Cons:
-Honestly I can't think of any
Austin
Pros:
-Big music community
-Several participants in the city
Cons:
-See above comments on Atlanta.
Any other input?

I wonder if I could convince Starfinger to join again if it was in Atlanta

I have a little girl who would love another trip to Disneyland. So California would be good. Or Florida. I suppose Atlanta is in Florida - more or less - or at least, it would be if you had proper sized states and not those stupid little postage stamp sized jobs you have.
Otherwise, there is always Brisbane. Or Toowoomba. Toowoomba has one of the most advanced sewage treatment plants in the Southern Hemisphere. I could arrange a tour. Shall I pencil that in?

Only downside is that it's far for us east coasters... Boo hoo, i know. I'm going to start saving now. I would also love to go to austin (we have friends there, so lodging would be easy) or Atlanta (as easy a drive as NYC). But my impartial vote still goes to Seattle.

I'd definitely go back to Seattle. That Jewelbox Theatre place was awesome.
The biggest pro for Seattle (or West Coast in general) is the weather. It's not insufferable in the middle of the summer.
Seattle also has great food, stuff to do, and of course Octothorpe.
San Diego would be fun too. Or LA.

I'd help with Austin. Absoluteslys! For SURESLY. And if it's someplace else I'll bring more useful stuff this time.
I'm going to get me a set of tiny bongos tho.

Of course, if we were to select somewhere central and convenient for everyone in the Songfight universe - it would have to be Bangkok. That would be awesome.
SF Bangkok: Sex Toys and Ladyboys! Shall I start making enquiries?

I'm quite sure we just pinged the Department of Homeland Security with that post. Thanks for bringing in the Fed's, Caravan...
I'm all over Seattle if Spud is willing to host and Austin sounds awesome, too! (I've never been to either.)
For a southern-based locale, what are the odds of a Spring or Fall event? It's very pleasant here in Atlanta as late as May - and travel and lodging would be cheaper, since it's off-season (just not Memorial Day weekend - last w/e of May for our international participants.)
I'm in total agreement with Lunkhead about the equipment list. My idea for here was to rent a van and entire set of instruments for the three-day weekend: drums, bass, elec and acoustic guit, keyboard, amps, PA, mixer, etc. No fuss, no muss, just a van chock full o' music.

Madison
pro: I have all that stuff.
con: Nobody wants to come here.
Anyway, I think Seattle would be my second choice...

Let me just add that I've been to Madison and it's quite nice. It's basically the Seattle of the midwest.

Well, in the south (at least, here in central Texas), it starts getting intolerably hot in April and doesn't let up until about November. So creative scheduling isn't really going to help us beat the heat.
Anyway, the event is typically in the summer because there has historically been a fairly large contingent of Songfighters who are teachers or students. Ross and Frankie are teachers. I don't think any full-time students have shown up for a few years, so that might be a moot point now.

Also, america's largest water park is an hour drive away from me, Caravan Ray, if that's any substitute for Disney characters and roller coasters.

meh... waterpark schmaterpark. I live just up the road from the Gold Coast. Waterparks coming out of your wazoo down there. As well as a little thing called the Pacific Ocean. Wisconsin got one of those?
Now Bangkok on the other hand - that is the place for "water sports"! Wet 'n' Wild baby!
