Here is my submission, I wrote it this morning

Far as I can tell, 9/19 is a Monday...

Nyjm ftw... The only French he knows is all of it. Mine is just gonna be me screaming cuss words, and at the end say "pardon my French" and giggle like a schoolgirl.

Ben, j'ai vu ce titre et la première chose qui m'est venue à l'esprit a été : « Ils rigolent, là, n'est-ce pas ? Parce que ce sera bien trop facile... »

And on the other hand, it could be a bit of an impediment, knowing a subject TOO well. There's some interesting synchronicity, though. I don't often write in French (not my first language), but Thursday afternoon I got a really great little prechorus melody and lyric en français. Might have to work on that.

So, Brooke, how's your langue de Balzac, Voltaire et Corneille?

I'm trying to come up with a way to sing "Kissing - the only french I know", without it being cringingly crudworthy.

...but the record company (EMI, I think) weren't too keen on a song about a psychopathic gay teenage boy, or the line "He gave me head". When The Dammed, The Clash, Siouxsie etc covered the song, they invariably chickened out and changed it to 'He gave me hell'.

But how to censor the song? Simple! Write a completely different song in a completely different language about something completely different. And re-record it to the same backing with a different vocalist. And just to make really sure, pretend that it's one substitute vocalist doing it, while the real substitute vocalist is the uncredited producer.

Because a song in French about a cat getting burned by exploding whiskey is inoffensive, compared to one about boys getting it on, apparently.

Um...no habla francois (unless you count Lady Marmalade - my favorite karaoke song ever - yes, I do karaoke - I'm sure I'll get a hand slap for this- but I don't care because I ROCK THAT SONG!!!) - but I digress...this is your department, professor...
