Ah, good articles. And I see Guinness is on sale for $3.88 a 4-pack downtown. Looks like I'll be taking a trip on my lunch break.
Gotta take it easy though, I'm playing at a boiled dinner this evening. And I only know, maybe, six Irish songs. Any last-minute tips on easy Irish drinking songs would be appreciated.

There will be plenty of drinking, I'm sure. It's at the Cannon Mountain View Motel's restaurant/bar in Franconia, NH, and they're doing a special St. Patrick's Day dinner.
I'm gonna check out Sober's songs, thanks for the tip. I don't know why I didn't think of that. His 'Brown Boxes' is a favorite of mine.

Yah, "Driving," definitely. You could also try telling the crowd that you're playing Irish rap songs by Sir McSalot (think, brogue: Ah, me posse's on Broadway). I'm probably spending my Thursday evening drinking somewhere between Portsmouth and Dover, but that's already almost an hour's drive north. At the hosptial I work at, there are usually 3-5 staff call in sick per day. Today? Almost twenty! Fucking lightweights can't handle their booze. Bah!!! Bah I say!!!

I played until after midnight, drove an hour home, and still got to work at 7:30 this morning, hangover and all.
Good thing it's a desk job, though. If I had to, say, hang drywall or something... well, it probably wouldn't stay dry. Oo, that's gross.

My mum used to be a nurse. One night she went drinking and got rather drunk. Slept for an hour. Went and worked in the operating room the next morning with the other people she'd been drinking with. I was gonna have Bailey's in my coffee to start things right, but it turns out I don't drink coffee. So it'll have to be Guinness.

Tonight I'm playing a dinner show at the Farmhouse Tavern in Franconia, NH. It's more of an early dinner thing than a drunken row, but I'm sure we all know that all St. Patrick's Days end more or less the same way.
Tomorrow I'm at the Wildcat Inn and Tavern, and that one will be more of a Guinness-fueled event.

My wife says I'm Irish by marriage for this St. Patrick's Day, so I can really celebrate now
(I'm also a bunch of other things by marriage now too, very confusing).

If you are still looking for Irish Drinking songs, I suggest the Rugburns' Killkenny Man. I can't find an mp3 of it, but if you can, go for it.
