This week, The Psychotics line up is DJ on vocals, Paco playing lead guitar, me on bass and rhythm and Jenni B from Quimby on acoustic guitar. I think it came out pretty cool.

Re: Pulling reviews (Out of a Hat)
With all this collaboration, we're going to end up with an oligarchy.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

No, it can't because of that crappy nerd core rappy nonsense that keeps flooding the airwaves with poop.
.....you might say "it's the poop" that keeps balance and equality in the music world.
edit: I forgot to add one of these "
" and say ALL original music is worthy of a place in this big gigantic overpopulated world. I joke, it's what I do.

Re: Pulling reviews (Out of a Hat)
I brought the "lyn" in BSS this week. I'd say we have ourselves a trippy groove born hit on our hands and little competition. Except for the Court of the Crimson Mitzvahs (I like the claps), Psychotic Billys (oh crap, you were made for each other!), Paco (oh crap you were made for yourself!), Homeless Ross and the Sleeping Durands, and the Zinkline of Seagulls. But otherwise it's really close.

Re: Pulling reviews (Out of a Hat)
Klownhole: heavy i like, but everything sounds a little muffled. stoner, sludge metal.. or something... with no lyrics. the lecture quote/book reading/voice thing doesn't cut it for me. i want some dude with a beard down to his waist, and no teeth, who smells like b.o. and harley davidson to grunt out some unintelligable drivel about satan. you're half way there with the music. goddamn this is a ridiculously long song.
ross d: your recording doesn't sound as good as i've heard before, and your lyrics sound a little cookie cutter. is it a good song? sure. but ive heard better.
menbah!: starts out like bjork... add jack white on vocals... strangely amazing. 2:25 - 2:56 is awesome.
merijamby: I have an unexplainable hatred of uke... dont take it personally. also, the tambourine is a little loud. lyrics are pretty funny though.
zinkline: i really like the music, it is reminiscent of the few U2 song i like. and if i do say so you sing better than bono. a little joke, because the vocals are by far the weakest part of this song... but still better than u2. i like how everything melds together at points and then separates again.
hillbilly: you can actually play the guitar... this song is obviously all emotion, full of strong images. it needs some substance, something to sing along to. keep up the work.
shambles^2: this sounds like a new techno beat, made from 80's sounds. not too bad, just not my dealy-o.
BSS: i like the girl voice whenever y'all have it. the solo sounds a little out of place, and is a little blaring in my left ear. other than that a very pretty song.
bbabm: i havent stopped listening to it since MG sent me this latest version. i tried to mess around with it a little more, but i just made it sound worse. i think he makes me sound amazing, and turned it from a stupid little song about someone crying at their birthday party, into a legitimate rock song.
paco: this sounds like weird al singing for los lobos! there is a new one... lol. you do VERY good harmonies, and back up vocals. the chord progression around 2:10 is a little weird to my ears. but all in all this is a fun song.
billy+psychos: i like everything except the drums. for some reason there is no definition between bass, and snare hits, and sometimes they conflict with the bass line/lead riff a little bit. just my $0.02. other than that, you guys obviously play well togeather, and know what you are doing.
votes: me, paco, menbah

Re: Pulling reviews (Out of a Hat)
Now after hearing your version compared to the MG production, they both have pluses. Your version has more life, MG's is very sterile. But MG's is sitting better in the field and better dynamics. Plus the added guitar bits are simple and needed. Although in the loud parts, the drums are lost, where they were there the whole time on your version, but that's partially because you didn't get too loud. Good song. One of my top picks this week.BBABM wrote:BTW there should be a (produced by Manhattan Glutton) after my name. he made sure it didnt sound like this
