Album Fight! (?)

Post by Paco Del Stinko »

Yes, there is a lot going on right now. But I was wondering if there might be interest in an album fight...whenever. I wasn't around for the first one but have enjoyed the wonderful results of that battle. Perhaps if there is interest, the powers that be, Deep Throat, whomever, might start collecting titles/themes? How did the first one work? Ideas? Thoughts? Comments?

I don't remember how the first one worked either. But it had great results.

I think if you haven't done an Album Fight before, then you need to use the first batch of titles from the initial Album Fight. If you finish that one, then you can move on to new sets of titles.

(At least, this restriction appeals to me, since after Frank, Jeff and I did the initial Album Fight, a few other people did one with the same titles-- so why not make it a tradition?)

I'd be game, but only if it didn't start until mid-December; I'll be inundated with schoolwork before then.

Hmm. Very interesting. I was thinking it would be more blind than knowing what was already done, as in new titles, but that's a good idea. Like a membership fee, or something.

I don't recall an album fight. But may be interested - because I am a bit slow nowdays for the weekly fight.

And the original titles is fine - I don't know what they are anyway.

What's the deal?

Just for nostalgia's sake, since it doesn't list the titles or anything, but here's where I bought mine...

Thanks, JB and Roymond. Those albums, plus the one Sonofsupercar did to those titles as well, are fantastic. If you haven't checked them out, do yourself a favor and do so. Any historians want to dish the poop on who else did one?

So. I think I'll give'em a go. I have no idea what to set for a deadine, or if there should even be one. I do enjoy a deadline, though. I guess that we can work that out, if needed. But how about providing links here when done?

We should set ourselves a deadline I guess. two weeks per song? From a point just beyond the announcement of the GOM givees?

What was the original timescale of the project?

it's intriguing, if we have a little longer per song - i don't think i can manage the whole album in one month.

Wow, a month! What'ya say we start on December 1st, giving people a chance to climb aboard? I have a couple projects due on the 29th and 30th, so it'd be nice to tidy up. I won't write anything to titles, just let them sit on a scrap of paper.

So here's a slightly different angle on this for me.....

I'd be interested in producing something like this, mostly because I can't see writing that many songs. What I'd be interested in doing for this would be to have a different songfighter write and record source tracks for each title (i could collaborate if needed), and I'd mix/master/produce so the end result would be a compilation of different songfighters doing different songs. and the twist is they wouldn't know who else is involved until it's done.

anyone interested? this might be a good alternative to trying the whole enchilada (well, i'd still be eating the whole enchilada).....and hopefully still be a fine piece of finished work.

PM me if you're interested, and if so, which title.

December 1st would be a push for me - I am incredibly busy with work until 10th December. Anyone for starting December 12th and going through to January 11th?

Is each song done in order? Do we post one, "discuss" and then move onto the next, or is it just post whichever, whenever?

Bill, this would be easier (less songs, a bit more time) than FAWM. You managed that!

Jack, that sounds interesting.

Any date works for me, really. Dec. 1st was just 'cause I thought you (J$) might be itchy. Mid month, new year start, whatever. Perhaps a later start might allow people to climb aboard and participate in Jack's idea. I like that idea as well.

So what about this schedule?

13th Dec - start.
14th Dec - "air traffic" due
16th Dec - "coming dear" due
19th Dec - "good morning" due
21st Dec - "locked box" due
23rd Dec - "maybe so" due
28th Dec - "new york" due
30th Dec - "red" due
3rd Jan - "scared to death" due
5th Jan - "shades of black" due
9th Jan - "towering inferno" due
11th Jan - "what's happening to me" due

I have no objections to that schedule. Things just might be a bit looser than on a longer schedule, but that's alright by me. :)

I'm pretty loose at the best of times :)

Excellent. Let the (album) fighting begin (in roughly two weeks)!
