an just cant seem to get in pitch or sing, suxes to be me.

I do good when I'm not trying. As soon as I start recording and try to be perfect, it's horrible.

If you are having trouble, loop a verse or chorus line. Then just set it for continuous looping and practicing until you find your groove.
Quite often I find my best b/u vocal is hidden somewhere between my main vocal and my backup vocal that I'm insistent on doing. So I will go ahead and record the backup vocal in all it's suckness. Then record a backup vocal to the backup vocal and BAM, there it is. Then turn off your original backup vocal and listen. I usually think, wow, I.was.not.expecting.that. And now you found a new thing for your bag of tricks.

The only fight I ever won, I think may have been because of backing vocals. Some back story, I grew up listening to my brothers and sisters listening to the Beatles and other vocal oriented groups. When I took my interest in music, I started replicating what I had heard vocally. Bear in mind that I actually saw Frank Sinatra perform live, a story in and of itself, but also grew up listening to multiple vocal and musical styles and genres. One habit I developed over the years was to try to sing harmonies where there were none. Instead of singing the lead vocal, I chose to try and create a harmony vocal. It's probably really odd, but I will say that was how I developed my ability to sing harmony.

Step 2 is learning how to record and mix them, but that's a separate issue, it is Songfight after all and not Mixfight.

Another story for another time is how Spud gave me a quick kick in the ass to get me to complete the song I won with. Anyway here it is, maybe it will help. For whatever reason I can't link you directly to it, but it's the winning song from I'm warning you. I hope it helps.
