In the unlikely event that you're actually being serious and not just being a sarcasmosaurus rex, I can bring it.
Come on man, I thought you knew me.
Pretend I don't.

Woo! Reservation confirmed!

Just an FYI, for those looking for a place is that isn't more than $100 a night, http://www.airbnb.com is fantastic. I just booked a room for $83 a night that's maybe 10 blocks from the Rogue and Peasant. Sweet!

Hey Spud, are you going to do a poster this year?

I have a cool idea for the design if you want me to email it to you. I think it would be pretty easy to pull off too.

Thanks to Jack for the concept...

So that seems like a t-shirt. Still gotta make it into a poster...

Cute. Also unfortunately likely to get a nastygram from Starbucks' lawyers. But fuck 'em.

We will be glad to cease and desist. After the show is over.

They don't play that way:
Rather than sending a cease-and-desist letter, Starbucks filed a motion for a restraining order that required Dwyer to surrender all items bearing the parody logo.

Mind you - that case involved a logo which was deemed to have "tarnished" the trademark, whereas that above is more just a harmless and benign geographic/cultural reference.

Did you dig up any other examples of lawsuits in your research?
There are lots of parodies out there. Do they take this approach often?

You get the idea...

I'm sorry - you only get the first Google response for free. Further research will attract my usual commercial rates (...bottle of rum - at least 3/4 full, in a brown paper bag behind the dumpster. I'll leave a receipt)

Love it! The green circle was around long before Starbucks was.

It doesn't matter if they have a leg to stand on - they have expensive lawyers and relatively infinite money.

The Dwyer case was the one I specifically had in mind but it's hardly isolated:

http://www.vegastrademarkattorney.com/2 ... offee.html (this one specifically over the green circle - there's less in common with this one than the SF logo)
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starbucks ... ringements - in particular the Rat City Rollergirls, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rat_City_Rollergirls - their logo just has the circle and doesn't even have green in it.

I'm not saying not to use that logo of course - I'm just saying to be aware that Starbucks has a history of not taking kindly to this stuff, even if it has nothing to do with coffee and even if the only design element in common is a circle.

It's funny, I wouldn't think starbucks would have a problem, but I wonder about Red Hook.

I tend to agree, Glennny. After all, Starbucks ditched the green circle a year ago March. I wonder if I could talk Red Hook into a sponsorship. I will ask around.

Noah, thanks so much for the Airbnb tip! That is indeed a great resource. Found a flat in Freemont. I will drive up after work on Friday, which will put me in Seattle circa... um...8 or 9? I'll keep checking back to learn where I will find you all on that day once the location gets upgraded from TBA to A.

That's awesome you're coming, Em!

For anyone else still looking, we found a house via VRBO that has worked out, such as:

Thanks, Roy! It is a little bit stupid that I've never made it out to one of these previously. Not that I ever Songfight. But you know.

I second the greatness of VRBO -- I've found many great spots using their site.

Spud, I have a very important and completely unrelated question. Is it true that Deluxe Junk is no more? :(
