Skip the first song and go to Free Hand at 3:30. I love Gary Green's guitar playing. Not a great lead player but his rhythm "parts" are tremendous and this song highlights how. (yeah, and pretend you don't see jump suits)

Talking Heads live - 1980. I loved Adrian Belew with Zappa, and his work with Talking Heads just cemented him as a sonic god for me. I was lucky enough to see his solo tours in small clubs in NYC. King Crimson was both a blessing and a curse, and I think KC got the better end of the deal. But anyway, here he fits right in with a great live band. And omg I was so in love with Tina. She never returned my calls or bothered to come out with coffee when I was stalking her all night...her loss!

It was the only way to build a bank of diverse sounds in the 70s. No midi, no digital or FM synths. They all had a hot tub of keyboards to splash about.

As late as 2000, Octothorpe took the stage in Lancaster with nothing but six synths and a borrowed drummer (Dr. Worm)...

That is really cool, Niv. It's stuff you know, but I've never broken it down nor ever had it broken down in that much detail.

Niveous, that also reminded me of a side fight idea I've had rattling around in my skull for quite some time. Remember the Axis of Awesome 40 songs with the same 4 chords vid? (mentioned in your vid above) I thought it would be cool to take 4 chords from any old famous song, even the 4 chords in that vid by AoA and people make an "original" song out of them.
Kind of a play on Song Fight common where we all write to a title, except we all write to the same 4 chords.

I'm not good at initiating side fights, so if anyone is interested, please run with it. I sense epicotamus results.

I agree, chord progression fight would be a great idea.

My friend just made this really excellent animated music video. One of his guitar heroes, Paul Gilbert, had him make it for his new song, "Enemies (In Jail)". The song is pretty groovy too, and not the non-stop guitar wank fest I thought it would be. It's a fun song and the video tells a great little story for it.

Does your friend make animated vids for a living? If so, link to his site?

He normally draws comic books for a living, and he also has a blog where he does regular illustrations that's apparently pretty popular:
