I was reading SPIN about a week or so ago and read about an interesting duo called Die Antwoord from South Africa. I don't care for rap, but because I give everything a chance, I listened to them and instantly thought, damn, if all rap was like this guy (Ninja) and his crazy chick (Yolandi), I'd be into it more. Then as I looked deeper, they even have a vid that was directed by Harmony Korine, which just got me even more interested. They're already known in the underground music world and now a review in SPIN, but I expect them to blow up in the next year.
Anyway, check this out. At first I thought, you have to be kidding. Then he started rapping and killed!
Then I watched one of their official music vids and thought, damn, these guys are a TRIP! I like freaky people and this song and vid hooked me. Yolandi confuses my penis.

They're pretty... entertaining? Here's a little short film they did - it has no music. Cracks me up.

I must have missed niv mentioning them, but def the kind of thing he would notice.
I have to admit, I haven't been this inspired in a long time. I'll never do this kind of music, but I'll make music with this attitude.

well, this is virgin airlines we're talking about. based in San Francisco (Virgin America). The movie selections are your standard fair, then there's just as many subtitled foreign films. Dozens of art house short films. They always seem to have some pet band they are promoting the hell out of. For my trip to Seattle in July and my trip to Seattle last weekend, they were pushing Die Antwoord. No other band really. I doubt I would see them on Delta or Jet Blue. They don't really push, they just say "check out this cool video".

Lady Gaga gets eaten by a lion. Yes! Plus Ninja and Yolandi are crazy as fok, as usual. This just dropped 2 days ago. It's funny and a freak show. Love it!
