Songfight subreddit

Which one of you started /r/songfight? The subreddit's only 17 days old, and there's no Songfight user named 'brysmi.' I quite like the idea of crossposting SF stuff to reddit, since I spend loads more time there than here. We could also probably get some new blood into this game via /r/wearethemusicmakers, if we were so inclined.

I thought that too - but googling leads me to believe brysmi is Klownhole related.
(If Blind Mime Ensemble used that nomenclature, I think he would be
brybak)

Yes but in Reddit, terrible people get voted up. Ironic assholery is still assholery.

Actually, Caravan Ray is quite cordial here. He's much more terrible in real life.

Are you reading r/4chan? What an odd blanket statement to make.
How I imagine you typing your posts:

Well, you are a propaganda artist. But in this case, I think you're right about him posting on the interwebz while stroking his kitty?

What, no /r/spacedicks? /r/clopclop?
Point is, /r/NONE of these are default subreddits. These are dark pits in an absurdly diverse community, and you must seek them out. This is like saying Lightning Earfart and Catknife Horsebomb are good reasons to hate Songfight.
There are just as many uplifting, helpful, and interesting subreddits as there are deplorable ones. Hating all of reddit because of a few awful subreddits is like hating all of the internet because of reddit.

I hate California and most of Nevada because of BLT.
And I am pretty sure he hates all of Austria because of me.
That is how the world works.

No, I love Australia despite of you, actually. Carry on.

Whenever I've looked at Reddit itself I also see that same level of misogyny and "for the lulz" bullshit, people being upvoted for knee-jerk "bitch get back in the kitchen and make me a sandwich" (because it's "ironic") crap and so on. Those subreddits are focal points of it, sure, but they're symptoms of a greater problem.
But the thing is that most Internet comments are made of stupid, and because of that I always run Firefox with the CommentBlocker extension so that I have to specifically want to see comments on sites I haven't whitelisted. My whitelist is very short.

Huh. Your experience with reddit is much different than mine. How long has it been since you gave reddit a try? Generally, I find that those kinds of comments get downvoted to hell outside of /4chan, etc. The best subreddits tend to have a combination of excellent moderators and regular community. /r/askscience is probably the best example of this. There's also great stuff to be found in /r/LearnUselessTalents, /r/ExplainLikeImFive, and /r/TodayILearned. I love that I can find subreddits on just about any hobby I stumble across, like homebrewing, cigars, and so forth. I'm terribly grateful that reddit isn't blocked on government computers.
