Super Bowl Sunday! XLVII 02/03/13

Once again here in the US it's time for the two best football teams of the season to battle it out.
San Fransisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens.

Naturally I'm a 49ers fan. But to be honest, I don't care that much because I'm not a hardcore sports fan, although I do have money on the 49ers in 3 different pools. But I'm a party fan and super bowl is a great excuse to eat lots of fried finger foods and drink mass quantities of your favorite alcoholic beverages. Woot!

QotD: The 49ers OR the Ravens?

QotD 2: What's your favorite finger food(s)? Wings, deep fried macaroni and cheese balls, cheesy dips?

My menu for today:
Hot wings. But I don't sauce them. I make killer sauces that people can add if they want or as little as they want. I make mine like normal, salt water pre-soaked, seasoned, dredged in flour 2 hours a head of time, BUT I toss them in panko crumbs right before I fry them. SO crunchy!

Parmesan Artichoke dip. I do it in a round Hawaiian bread loaf for cool points and the best part is eating the bowl when the dip is gone.

Beer brats that I pre simmer in dark beer before they go on the grill for a final smoking and grill. Also on the grill I do bell peppers and onions to go on the brats. I always get a big hearty hot dog type bun, not those cheap little ones for normal hot dogs, and not a french roll type bun either. I like them soft but big. ....I'm referring to brat buns, CR. .........and I'm referring to bratwurst.....and bread buns. Hopefully that just took away all of your amo. :P

Pork sliders. I'm slow cooking a pork shoulder I'll pull later and put it on my grill grate for a final smoking and with my spicy marinade drizzle. I don't like to sauce my pulled pork and let people add as little or a lot if they like. I personally like my pulled pork sammich just smoked and I add a scoop of coleslaw. The marinade I add when I smoke it keeps it very moist and juicy already. So a little honey mustard and a scoop of coleslaw is all I need. So good!

Bacon wrapped water chestnuts. They get bbq sauced at the end.

Bacon wrapped jumbo shrimp. They get a teriaki bbq sauce at the end.

Umm, I think that's it. Seems like I'm forgetting something.

edit: OH yeah, I made a peach cheese cake!

I don't really care and I'm not planning to watch, but I have two reasons to root for the 49'ers. The obvious one is that I live in the SF Bay Area. The other one is that I lived in Cleveland when the Cleveland Browns left to become the Baltimore Ravens. So I hope those jerks lose big time!

We're not doing anything special food wise. I like to try to do things during the Super Bowl that I normally wouldn't do because of Sunday afternoon crowds, like go to IKEA/Costco/the mall/etc.

Favorite finger foods: I'm a sucker for chips and dip, particular chips and guac. I kind of love all finger food, actually. Sliders... fried cheese sticks ... quesadilla wedges ... thinking of these things, and reading your post, BLT, are making me very hungry.

I hung out in a coffee shop with other comic-drawing nerds. It was great.

I like veggies dipped in hummus.

I went bowling with coworkers. I drank Stella, and ate horrible pizza... They went painfully well together. Go 9ers. I am really bad at bowling, and I get worse with more beer.

49ers sucked so bad on the first half. They had a good comeback after the "power outage", but made some bad decisions at the end of the 4th. Oh well, I don't like sports anyway. Image

....but my food was delightful. Image

the people here are still bitter about how the colts left years ago to go to indianapolis, but they seem to have conveniently forgotten that they did the same thing to cleveland.
