Any interest in a fight for cell phone ringers? I could learn how to make a wap page and host them for a short time...

there's a problem with your self-depricating poll.

OPTION FOUR: Bad idea, and I still don't like you.

C'mon man. THINK! THINK!

 <<<<means I'm kidding in messageboard lexicon.

I actually thought of that option, but I figured it'd be too far intot he self-deprication. It seems that I either get comments saying I give myself too much credit, or not enough... I thought it'd eb a happy medium...

I have an idea...[edit] - on my message board you can edit polls... I cannot here, but believe me, it would've been funny!

I was hoping to make a ringer with one of my songs or some such, but it turns out I don't think I can do that on my phone. Blah! But I made up for it by finding a Kraftwerk ringtone.

Depends on your phone/service. I make a low qual wav and use purevoice to convert it to a qcp file. Then when you browse to it with your compatible phone's internet connection, the phone knows what to do. Some phones accept mp3's as ringers, too, which would be a better sound quality..

I have access top a pay site with some tutorials for each service (i believe that's how it's broken up) and would be happy to relay these via email if anyone's interested. Just let me know what kind of phone and what service it's through.

Brett made a Voltineers ringtone, but I think it was just an MP3 (bee halloween).

I'm sorry, I guess what I need to know is,
Which one of these works with your phone?
• Create MMF Ringers
• Create QCP Ringers
• Create MP3 Ringers
• Create MP4 Ringers
• Create AMR Ringers
I can get a tutorial for each of those. I am on sprint with a sanyo RL4920, and mine uses QCP

This is sort of a cool idea. I wouldn't limit it to any particular kind of ringtone. Just whoever makes the coolest one. They can convert it to MP3 for us all to listen to, and then maybe provide the source for people to upload it to their phones.

If you can get tutorials for all those kinds of ringtones, please do so and post the links here just for general information.

A googlesearch for "ringtone competition" scored no relevant hits, so this might be something somewhat unique, if anyone decides to do it.

As far as competition goes, mp3, I agree, is the best way. The links I have for tutorials on making the ringers themselves are to a paid membership site. I'll have to plajorize them to an extent and put them up on my site. Will keep you all posted.

The fight portion of this seems to be dead, but I recently got a new cell phone, well actually 3, one for my wife, my eldest daughter, and me. They both have downloaded actual songs to their phones for ringtones, and frankly I'm a little bit jealous. I would love to be able to download one of my own songs to my phone and have the most unique ringtone around, and kind of bring my music to the masses (so to speak) at the same time. Rather than start a new thread I thought i might try reviving this one first.

So, does anyone know how I could download a ringtone of one of my own songs to my phone, and what the process might be? I have a Motorola V265 if that helps in the slightest.
