Well, damn. Can anyone tell me where I shoved my flute case when I completely reorganized my house? <
(In other words, like, little to none of my sound library is in 3/4, so doing it all from scratch, for once)

Sorry Pixie, I'm busy looking for my missing kazoo. Where the heck is it?

To All the Bands in the Nur Ein,

Please send me a band pic for the website. If you are a returning contestant, this is optional.

Heya Niv, use the dog one, if you've still got it. Gracias.

Skypup - if your kazoo is like my flute, look under the tabletop gaming things. Apparently, my boyfriend decided that my case would be a perfect platform to display my Warhammer figurines...
Niveous - give me a bit to find a picture that doesn't look horrible.

Via the wiki page:

"In the 19th and early 20th century, numerous different waltz forms existed, including versions performed in 2/4 or 6/8 (sauteuse), and 5/4 time (5/4 waltz, half and half)"

2/4, 6/8 and 5/4 are OHMYGODSOMUCHMORE interesting than 3/4, so am I gonna get pooped on if I decide to go that route? :)

No. Go right ahead. That's fine. The are 4/4 waltzes too. You should do one of them.

I am not a judge, but here's my take on it...
If I were a judge, and I heard a song for this round that wasn't in a time signature with a multiple of three, I would want to do some homework to make sure that it's actually a waltz, as opposed to an excuse to do a song in 5/4 time. See if you can find some of these 2/4 of 5/4 waltzes, so you know what tempo and/or groove to emulate.

I was going to sample some choice Christoph Waltz dialogue and then just stick to a 4/4 time signature, but I decided against it. You're welcome, though, whoever just took that idea. That one's for free.

Judgement will be swift and unforgiving.

I am surprised (and slightly disappointed) no one whinged about my addressing last weeks challenge of gunfire by simply saying the word "bang". The judges must be getting soft.

Go ahead and just say the world "waltz" this week. Judges will let that fly, for sure.

In other news, guitar is recorded and sounds kick-ass. Now to somehow add vocals without ruining it all.

You may be equally surprised to learn that some people who heard the song were actually pleased with the creative interpretation of the challenge.

If you had merely said "bang bang" randomly, it might not have had the same effect, but you also incorporated a (albeit somewhat oblique) discussion ABOUT gunfire into the lyrics.

Are you insinuating that the judges need to "pop a little tab"??

Status report!

I've got my lyrics finished (aside from one line that I'll probably change if it doesn't stop bothering me). No recording done yet, but I've got the day off tomorrow, so I should be on course to finish in time again.

I hope that this song is the second in a Nur Ein based concept album where you kill off famous people in each song. This time, you give Lewis Carroll a fatal epilieptic seizure.

It is (unintentionally) the second song in what might turn out to be a concept album. But that's not the theme. Jeeze, though, now I wish it were. Hmm. :?

Au contraire, that was brilliant and you were rewarded in my book.
