What is an epic story song?
I work at epic systems, can I write about my job?

Too late. I already wrote a song about computer programming. If I get eliminated, it's on your heads, judges.

Oh man, I'm having bad flashbacks to Nur Ein II Round 6's six-minute challenge. :P

To truly classify as an Epic, your lyrics must be composed of at least twenty separate books.

Better get crackin'.

Just change the word "week" to "weekend", and change the word "beach" to "city" and you're golden. Ticks all the boxes. It's a Songfight winner and a proven Nur Ein performer. You can't go wrong

Shame Chokehold Princess wasn't in for this. I think Ben woulda taken ya'll to the cleaners with this challenge.

Title: Weekend in the City
Non Optional Challenge: Epic story song

Ben Krieger and Furry Pedro get special Wildcard entries.

I would be happy with that - to hear the NY/London smack down.

(I don't even know if Pedro lives in London - but England is so small - I guess all of it is London. Right J$?)

The Cavedwellers have studied under the great Ben Krieger, we once backed him up on a live version of Cable Beach.
I agree Ben would have owned this challenge. We have some epics in our old catalog, it's nice to have motivation to do a new one!

I think this is the only potentially epic song Erin and I have made:

Oh hey, what are you guys all up to? I've just been kicking back with a book and some LPs and watching some baseball. It's pretty sweet.

(and then when their backs are turned:  )

Getting hammered and reading the internet, with the occasional outburst on acoustic guitar. My songwriting process is very organic, you see.

Wrote "Scientific 7" for Songfight, recorded part of it. Went to the beach. Wrote up ideas for a "Nein" version of "Weekend in the City". Trying to figure out why my mixes sound half the volume of everybody elses, and how to sing/ play/ record/ mix better...

Do you run a "maximizer" plugin on your main outs? This video explains it pretty well:

Thank you! Using Audacity right now, and maximizer isn't in the basic plugins. I can run a limiter + normalizer, tho. I'll try that this week.

Small enough to be in two camps - London / Not London.

That said, FP lives close enough to London that we performed together on stage as recently as February this year. I was amazing, him ... let's just say "Not London" :)

If I could get a decent vocal take before midnight, I would be so happy.

Hell, Man Glut. I'm in without a decent vocal. What's your problem? Damn kids these days.

Not all of us are blessed with a perfect voice, paco.

This beer may help with nourishment, but it will probably not help my song.

We suffered some last minute technical difficulties but our song is on its way, a touch late. :( We throw ourselves on the mercy of the judges.

(Accidentally posted that in the Round Five thread at first. Oops!)
