Bear Food

Back in the day, nobody
Expected you could raise a family
Working at the Burger King
You could save up to buy yourself a new stereo
Put a tank of gas in the GTO,
But it was just a teenage thing.
Now it's the only job that I can get
I been trying to advance, but... not yet.
So I bear food to your table
I bear food to your booth
But they're lying when they say you can live like this,
And it's time we started tellin' the truth...
It's the twenty-first century
Too many people in poverty
Starin' up at those arches of gold.
Meanwhile the fat cat CEO
Sittin' in his office, countin' the dough
That he's made from the Macs I've sold.
He'll tells me I don't have to live like a slob;
Just get a second job, but meanwhile
I bear food to your table
I bear food to your booth
But they're lying when they say you can live like this,
And it's time we started tellin' the truth...
I know you like your Value Menu
Your Value Coke, your Value Fries
But the woman who just handed you your three dollar dinner,
She's the one who's payin' the price
(some instrumental space)
You drive up to my window in your big Cadillac
You hand me a hundred and get ninety-six back
Well, I bear food to the drive through
I bear food to your booth
But they're lying when they say you can live on this,
And it's time we started tellin' the truth...
Expected you could raise a family
Working at the Burger King
You could save up to buy yourself a new stereo
Put a tank of gas in the GTO,
But it was just a teenage thing.
