Just heard about a competition run by ABC radio in Newcastle NSW to do a Midnight Oil cover.
Winner gets to play their cover for Midnight Oil at the opening of a museum exhibition for them.
...OK - that sounds a bit crap...but doing a cover may be fun. Anyone want to do one with me? (I'm looking at you BLT....Paco?)
Having trouble finding the details. You probably have to be a Novocastrian to enter - but that is OK, that is my old home town, so I'm sure I can find an address to use.
Non-Oil sounding would probably be the go.

I think you could do a killer version of Forgotten Years.

Sounds like fun. I can put together drums and bass. Let me know what song you can sing.
And yes, Forgotten Years is a good song and oddly I've always wished it was a little faster. Could be fun sped up.

I read this as "Otis ain't Otis", which was very exciting. Then I saw it was Midnight Oil. Good luck with *that*
.. et puis, bonsoir!

No no, Mr. You chimed in, you're doing backup vox or bass or triangle or something.
Also, it's hard for only guitar players to collab. We all want to be the lead guitar player, and it gets too busy, lol.
But I can see Paco up the middle and CR and I on either side holding a nice panned out rhythm.
.....anyone good at Mongolian throat singing? It would be a nice touch.

Yeah - I was never a big Oils fan either - which is virtually heresy for an Australian of my generation to admit (always preferred Cold Chisel). I was always a bigger fan of Peter Garret in his later career as a politician than as he was as a musician. (I still rate him as an excellent former Minister for the Environment after his decisions on Tasmanian pulp mill and the dam in Traveston which would have threatened the Australian Lungfish - the avatar of Songfight's own Heuristics Inc).
Now - some 20 years after their heyday - I really don't think they aged well. Whereas Cold Chisel - who overseas readers have probably never heard of (but were equal in esteem to Midnight Oil in Aus back in the day - you were either an Oils Man or a Chisel Man) - remain a great band to listen to:
