The Song Fight Bulletin Board

I just watched the Sweetwater demo for this pedal. It's pretty mindblowing to me that you can have automatic bass and drums accompaniment in a pedal, under $200:

What it does is, you play a chord progression and it listens and then generates bass and drum backup at the right tempo, in the right key, and in one of many different styles and feels, and you can set up three different parts you can switch between, too. Thinking about how much work this is doing for you, it's pretty amazing.

I am blown away by this. The future is amazing.

But no metal setting?

I was surprised by the lack of metal, too. Maybe they're saving it for an all metal version with seven metal subgenres (classic, thrash, death, progressive, stoner, industrial, doom)?

Very cool. Huge time saver for working out a song and arrangement. Perfect for working out on guitar and creating riffs. That's pretty much how I come up with my riffs.
Likes:
1. Simplicity
2. Nice drum sound
3. Foot switch capability
4. Cost not bad at all for what you get

Dislikes:
1. Only 3 programmable parts at a time. I'd like 5 parts in a perfect world because you could pretty much arrange a full song. But I could make 3 parts work if the intro and outro are the same and the bridge uses the verse part.
2. The bass sounds electronicy.

By the way, the first vid, the guy was switching parts with his finger and said you need an external foot switch to switch between parts. But the second vid, the guy used the foot switch on the Trio to switch between parts. Which makes more sense anyway.

I give the trio a 4 out of 5 stars. I would recommend it to anyone needing a tool for guitar practice and writing songs.

Hm, seems like it'd be great for the vast majority of my songs. I wonder how quickly it can learn stuff on the fly, or if it's possible to load and save to an external device through that USB port...

If it works on a keyboard, too, I'm getting one.
