What is your favorite Pearl Jam song?

Either Even Flow or I Am Alive. I'm not a particularly big fan of Pearl Jam but I do enjoy those songs.

Not a fan. And I hate Eddie Vedder.

But I really like "Black."

My wife made me hate "Better Man". Long story... before we were married... anyway... As I am also not that big of a fan of Pearl Jam, I will have to pick Yellow Leadbetter since I played the bass to that one in my last band.

Alive.
Loved the 1st 2 albums, then it was diminishing returns.
Great vocalist, good band, mostly weak song writing for the last couple decades.
I loved it when the covered " My Love Open the Door" with Pete Townsend.

Breath. Before it became was breath and a scream. The original was a Gossard song from Mother Love Bone that he brought to Pearl Jam to rework. A lot of ripping guitar leads.

My favorite is "Leash". Makes you want to tear things apart. Or maybe that's just me.

In spite of my desire to be one of the cool kids, I eventually had to admit that Pearl Jam just aren't really my bag. I listened to Ten a few times and got one of the cheap live albums from that time they released recordings for an entire tour.

One of the few that stuck with me was "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town," which isn't really representative of their work, which I guess underscores the fact that I'm not much of a Pearl Jam fan. I just like its quiet lyricism.

If you want a great album instead of just a good one like Ten, try Go (which "Elderly Woman" is on). Every track is really really good. The weakest song is "Rats". The other ones all tie for totally awesome.

This one was very hard for me. I have this very nostalgic love of the Ten album. But the songs from Ten (as well as "State of Love and Trust" and "Dirty Frank") are my honorable mentions.

I cannot imagine what my musical life would be like if I hadn't found WDRE, a Long Island/ Philadelphia radio station where I got my first real tastes of New Wave and Alternative. I remember being home from school one day in 1994 and finding out that WDRE was going to preview the entire Vitalogy album. The news (and the fact that I had a blank cassette at the ready) filled me with joy. "Last Exit" came on and it was slick and cool but didn't set my world on fire. "Spin the Black Circle" would grow on me but I didn't dig it on first lesson. The third song was "Not For You" and I was wondering what had happened to Pearl Jam. I would learn to like that song later too but at that moment, I didn't know if I was going to enjoy Vitalogy. Then came "Tremor Christ" and my mind was blown and I was back on board with this new album. And to this day, it's the Pearl Jam that I've listened to the most.

The longest line I ever waited in to buy an album was the Thursday night- Friday morning at midnight release of Vs.
it serpentined through the parking lot of the West Covina Tower Records. I think it was 45 minutes to get to the counter. I was sure it was because both Pearl Jam Vs. and Rush- Counterparts were being released. The clerk told me I was the only one buying the Rush album. ( I picked up Vs. too ). I remember thinking how wonderful the band and Eddie Vedder sounded. The production was amazing in capturing the energy of the band. The songs were nothing special, but the recording was amazing.

As a 30-something, of course I went through a phase of loving Pearl Jam, but they didn't stand the test of time with me. But my favorite is "Yellow Ledbetter" and I like riffing on that one now and again on the guitar.

You mean Monday night-Tuesday morning.
Major label albums drop on Tuesdays. Major studio movies drop on Fridays. I'm pretty sure that's an industry standard in the US.

Huh. I thought they had already switched to Monday some time in the recent past, due to how many albums I've been able to legally get ahold of the day before their "official" release, via Spotify and Google Music. Now it's gonna be Friday? /shrug/ Okay then.

For me the release date of albums is "when the band decides to upload it to BandCamp," about 90% of the time.

Yeah, I read that in SPIN last month. It'll change this summer sometime. I totally get why the record industry wants a global release day, because they think it will cut piracy. IE: If a new Daft Punk drops in Germany a week before we get it (I don't know Germany's drop day) here in the US, people will torrent the album. Once they have it, most won't buy it on it's release day.

As far as the downside to a new Friday release day? I think it's minimal. Radio stations with their "new music Tuesdays" will have to move it to Friday. Online stores will have to change their site, etc. So yeah, minimal.

Also having a regular release day makes charting a lot easier to deal with, since everyone's on the same sales calendar. I can see why they'd want to make a single global charting system for all markets - makes it a lot easier for them to figure out global advertising budgets and so on.
