"Big River". Or pretty much anything else. Silver medal goes to his cover of "I See a Darkness".

I always liked Johnny Cash, but I never got an album.
"Girl from the North Country" is a duet with Bob Dylan which is part of the fabric of my childhood. It's hard to top that.
I don't like RIng of Fire. I like most of the of the other hits. That cover of "Rusty Cage" was amazing! also the "Hurt" cover was better than the NIN original.

I love "Girl from the North Country" the most. That's my pick.

Any of them (apart from the more schmalzy religious ones). They're all the same and they're all brilliant :)

Pretty much any song with a train reference, which are quite a few. But I have to go with the one song I loved as a kid and still to this day get a huge grin every time I hear it. A Boy Named Sue. Most people are just listening to the great funny story, but no one pays much attention to the his guitar riffing the entire song. It's awesome. "My name is Sue, how do you do? Now you're gonna die!" :D

Gotta agree with BLT on "A Boy Named Sue."

But since he already picked it, I'll just go ahead and say "Ring of Fire."

As a kid in the 70s my first experience with listening to an album over-and-over was a cassette that had Boy Named Sue on it. Sitting on the floor with one of those little mono cassette players - listen flip the tape - listen flip the tape .... awesome. Muskrat Love and the Hustle were big around that time too. are those Johnny Cash tunes?

Folsom Prison Blues is my favorite, but Boy Name Sue has so many cool lines - I always thought 'The mud the blood and the beer' would be a great band name.

My Dad played the shit out of Kris Kristofferson in the 70s, and while I didn't like Sunday Morning Coming Down much then, it's now one of my favorite songs, and Johnny's version is great. Folsom Prison Blues would have to be my second choice, as it's a great song and the crowd applauding for 'just to watch him die' is pretty chilling.

Ring of Fire wins for the imagery used in the first "Silent Hill" movie.

The Redemption Song (Bob Marley cover?) was amazing, too!

I too enjoyed his cover of "Hurt." But I gotta say I'm a sucker for "I Walk The Line." And of course my "Hello My Old Heart" is a pastiche of a few of his songs, mostly "A Boy Named Sue."

I love how Cash always joked about how "Ring of Fire" should be used in a Preparation H commercial, and then after his death they actually approached his family about making good on that joke, and his kids weren't particularly amused.

Also has anyone ever watched Barbecue U on PBS? Their soundtrack is pretty much an endless repeat of a replacement track version of Ring of Fire.

My favorite Johnny Cash song is God's Gonna Cut You Down. Honorable mention to "Hurt". Cash has a delivery like no other.

Zappa and his band did a live version of it live on The Best Band You Never Heard In Your Life, and they make a similar joke, although they said Anusol in that one... it's a fun version.
