What is your favorite Metallica song?

Bass solos! "Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth)" Or at least that's the first that came to mind.

Master of Puppets from my favorite Metallica album Master of Puppets.

Those 1st 3 albums were the soundtrack to a lot of working out. The fast tempo steady pulse is great to run to. I also used to fall asleep to Master of Puppets, it's rather soothing and almost ambient with the lack of melodic variance. The fast pulse is like a massage or a jet in a hot tub, I find them very relaxing.

I liked And Justice for all too. I hate the Black album, I think Bob Rock killed an interesting band.

To me, Iron Maiden will always be the greatest metal band. Nice try Metallica, but not good enough.

1988- I went to the Monsters of Rock show: Kingdom Kome, Metallica, Dokken, Scorpions, Van Halen. It was in that order. We all suffered through Kingdom Kome, then from my very good sseat 10th row and center at the LA Colosseum, I got to watch 60,000 dudes rush the stage. I was fearful of being crushed. I had my own seat! Then there were 4 other guys standing on it with me for Metallica. They were way too big for that slot.

The older stuff for sure. Back when Hetfield still sang like a garage band screamer.
Picking just one, Breadfan. It's a cover from the Welsh band Budgie, but damn, it rocks! That song just boosts me to different heights immediately.

Speaking of Budgie. If anyone is into old school bad ass rock, check them out. A very underrated band.

Again, another one I need to do by album. Before I do, though, I should point out that my favorite album is S&M. The fusion of symphony and rock has always been a favorite of mine. Evanescence, Within Temptation, etc. Favorites!

Acoustic "Four Horsemen"? Yes!

It's gotta be "The Call of Ktulu", the instrumental. A lot of people say they don't like metal because "it isn't melodic" or "it's just a bunch of screaming". For those people, I play "The Call of Ktulu".

It took a month on the nose, but Niveous finally managed to pick a band I don't like. Gonna have to pick "None of the above" for this one.

My favorite is Frantic. You don't always get a lot of introspection with Metallica, here you do.


A special honorable mention goes to "Nothing Else Matters". I asked one of my friends Shane to be the officiant at my wedding after a problem with the first officiant we had chose. Shane agreed and did a very good job. That job included a surprise as during the ceremony, she decided to do a reading of her own choosing for the occasion. Out of the clear blue, she started reading the lyrics of "Nothing Else Matters". I wish there was a picture of the moment where Jill (the wife) & I looked at each other and telepathically said to each other "Is she reading Metallica???". Somehow it worked though.

One of my favorites also. I listened to a lot of Metallica in high school, but less these days. I especially like the AJFA album.

Thanks for that! I think of this as "the punching song". The idea is, when you're sitting next to someone while listening to this song, you punch them on the arm for each accented BOOMP (you know what I mean if you listen to the song). Learned this from my metalhead older brother. I guess for the acoustic version mere flicks would be acceptable.

What? I had a normal childhood!
