Rum! (Hope You're Having a Nice Time in Jamaica prefight)
The title so long that I couldn't really fit anything else in the prefight thread name. :/ This is what I get for being glib with Deep Throat. Sorry folks!
I'll be doing the site updates tonight after work, but I figured I'd drop this stink bomb on folks now.

I'm not writing a song about the guy with 'Wendy' tatted on his ..arm. Just, in advance.

I'm not seeing this title anywhere but here yet but assuming it's the thing and I'm not missing the joke / point, I love it. 50 million miles from being able to commit but I would love to have a go. Especially as it's TEN years since 'Scissor Kick'. *shudder*

Gotta love the insider titles. (JB's currently on vacation for those who don't know the title significance)

Oh great.... I don't know what the joke is. That's typical. Always a bridesmaid and never a bride.Niveous wrote:Gotta love the insider titles. (JB's currently on vacation for those who don't know the title significance)
Anyway, it's a good thing I didn't submit a "Watching the Riot" fight, because I would have remixed the same Super Adventure Island song for that as I am planning for this. Yay me for my lack of foresight still coming out ahead
Oh! and my Nein song for Banshee is still coming along... I can't get the idea out of my head. Lyrics written and recorded, now I am just mastering the music.

There are a couple jokes. Dee and I refer to one, which you can google.
Niv said the other is that JB is on vacation, so Lunkhead is having us all sing him "Happy Vacation" songs

Don't blame me! I didn't choose the title, I just unintentially provided it for Deep Throat to select.

Although, maybe this could be a good promotional tie-in opportunity for a deal between Song Fight! and the Jamaica Tourist Board. We can try to get them to give the winner a free trip to Jamaica or something...

if that's your best interpretation, maybe you should get Adam Adamant to write your lyric this time out.iVeg wrote: Lunkhead is having us all sing him "Happy Vacation" songs
Now, *THAT's* an in-joke ...

Maybe I should do a song about the aroma there. Or would that be too Tricky?

Dear potential song-fighters this round
Please, please, please, don't give into your gut instinct and do cod reggae. Espcially not comedy cod reggae. Anyone who does a 'comedy' Jamaican accent will be summarily barred from music-making forever. Reggae and dub are easy to do badly, next to impossible to do well, and the thought of me wading through a dozen songs and accusing everyone of being a musical racist does not appeal much. To anyone.
(secretly I'm just clearing the field so I can take a swing at it myself )

I guess that means I should stop moving forward with my Jar-Jar Binks themed Dubstep track.

Re: Rum! (Hope You're Having a Nice Time in Jamaica prefight
But I wanted to sing the joke about Shane Warne and Sir Vivian Richards walking home from Sabina Park after a Test Match and taking a piss off a bridge. When Warnie says: "This water's cold Viv", and Viv replies, "Yeah mon. Deep too"j$ wrote: Anyone who does a 'comedy' Jamaican accent will be summarily barred from music-making forever.
Ok Sir Viv is actually Antiguan, not Jamaican. So that probably wouldn't work.
Which reminds me, I was flying home from NZ a few weeks ago. There was a whole lot of old cricketers at the airport who had been at some charity thing. I saw Punter Ponting, which didn't excite me greatly, but only found out later that Sir Viv was there too, and my mate got a selfie with The Master Blaster himself. Bugger - that was a good score.

Sorry, I should have made clearer, this is not an edict I have no right to announce, this is a desperate plea for SANITYYYYYYYY ....Lunkhead wrote:This isn't Nur Ein, j$, you have no jurisdiction here.
That said, if LOSERS are allowed to turn up in Nur Ein threads, surely I'm allowed to turn up as a repeated loser in SF threads?

Re: Rum! (Hope You're Having a Nice Time in Jamaica prefight
I'm in.
This was written with a "double title" - since there is a little local songwriting group in town that has a monthly show, and I suggested they go 'songfight' and write a song to a title for the next month - and last month I gave the current Nur Ein title "Standing on the Edge" as a suggestion. So this got knocked up in a few hours on Sat. afternoon to try to fit both titles.
So that is why the "standing on the edge" verse was shoe-horned into it (I was not trying to imply that JB was a particularly timid chap or anything - it just came out that way)
