Bass (non-slap) for "Couldn't Have Been Worse"
Burn-out case looking to add a bass line to...what'cha got? I can't do slap bass, though. I'm taking this week off but would love to lay down a bass track to something. Why bass Paco, you might ask? I dunno. Some bad joke about feeling the bottom end or something. Gimme a PM, anyone interested, I'll check in throughout the weekend. Thanks and good luck to all.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Man if there was ever a collab I'd want to be a part of it'd be the BLT-PDS-TMK.
I look forward to the BLT-PDS none the less, I'm sure it'll be hard to beat especially fast tempo.

TMK is Those Meddling Kids AKA Furry Pedro
Man, the 4 of us would have a mean guitar onslaught!
How is that song coming? I can always throw down a solo if needed. I just thought I caught wind of this collab too late, it being Monday night and all.

Oh damn, TMK, that's right, sorry.
Well, my solo I have now kind of sucks, but fits the song pretty damn good I think. I'm hoping that when I get the vocals in and the song is done, I might get re-inspired to do another one. That's usually how it works, lol. Right now I'm just trying to get my vocals done so I can get it over to Wages for some harmonies and back up.

Re: Bass (non-slap) for "Couldn't Have Been Worse"
Well - I certainly don't need you, because I'VE GONE BASS CRAAZZYY!!!. I'm so pleased with my new bass I got a few months ago, my song for "Couldn't Have Been Worse" has not only a 'rhythm' bass track - but 2 "lead" basses as well!Paco Del Stinko wrote:Burn-out case looking to add a bass line to...what'cha got? Charlie, I want to apologize in advance. I got the song in, but it is a terrible mix. I am so distraught at the moment. I had everything done and it was AWESOME. Very dynamic, tons of energy, your bass was eq'd and compressed perfect. This after numerous computer freezes, but I didn't have time to clean and defrag. I was getting greedy and wanted one last back up vocal track and my computer crashed.....hard! No problem I thought, I'll just boot back up and mix down my final shiz. Wouldn't you know it, it was GONE! Cubase saw the file name, but when clicked, I got invalid file name. I looked everywhere I could think of to find it, but nothing.
So now it's 1:00am, I can hardly keep my eyes open and I have to start from scratch. I had a whole day just in drum programming! luckily I had the mixed down version I sent you that was still a wav.file. So I grabbed that, put your bass on it, then this morning I added the vocal and b/u vocal tracks. The only real bummer is that the mixed down file I sent you was already compressed and shiz. By the time I was done, with about 15 minutes to get the song submitted, I couldn't remember how many times I compressed, decompressed, boosted stuff......etc.
Long story short, I'm very disappointed and my once vigorous vocals are showing my unhappiness, the mix is a chunk of music and I wunna get drunk but I have too much work to get done today.
Well, there's my story.
Oh, and sorry Phil, this song had you written all over it. I appreciate you being at the ready. You will be my lead vocals on my next punk tune.

That's a bummer! You might think about always bouncing to uncompressed WAV and doing a separate masterings pass and then subsequent MP3 conversion. This leaves you the intermediate files for future alternative mastering, etc. and would have given more options in this unfortunate situation. It takes time to do these intermediate bounces but I've found them very helpful.Billy's Little Trip wrote:luckily I had the mixed down version I sent you that was still a wav.file. This sounds good Roy. But I don't quite understand what you're saying. Are you saying that I should export and save each track raw as a separate wav.file?
Right now, I just save the project as a Cubase project and when I open it, it opens to my project. But I would have killed to have all my tracks saved as separate wav.files in this situation I was in last night.
On a side note, I know where my computer problems are. Ever since I started computer HD recording, I've been d/l'ing plug in up the wazoo, as well as recording very large mb songs. My 80 gig HD has about 5 gigs of free space. I do have an external 80 gig HD, so I've started saving finished project on the external, but for some reason I can't work on a Cubase project that is saved on my external HD. It gets all jittery and shiz. It might be because of my lack of HD free space on my main computer, or the fact the my computer is a 900mghz pen3 and my USB port isn't a 2.0. So it can't transfer back and forth fast enough.
Either way, I need to free up my main computer HD, but I'm not sure what to move and delete for the most part.

You know what's funny, I just listened to the MP3 that I sent in, and it's not so bad...not what I intended by any stretch, but not too bad. Is it possible that the MP3 format changed something, or did my attitude change since this morning. Earlier I thought it couldn't have been worse, but now I think it could have been worse.
