Collab: The Shelton With Sunspots

Post by wages »

I've got a little bit I've been working on, but a string broke and I'm frustrated. :x

Here's a small sample of where I was going until the string (and I) snapped... This tune could be a hint more mellow (ala Pink Floyd channeled through The Mars Volta covered by QotSA) than what I've indicated here. Or if someone wanted to take the music another route, that could be interesting and I'm open to it. I was originally thinking a psychedelic rock sound, but I don't know how to write the music for that!

I don't want to play my horrible guitar tone and try to find drum loops that fit, so anyone who is remotely interested, PM me (even if you can only provide drums; if I could get drums, the guitar is passable if I work hard on it). As to the melody and guitar work here... NOTHING is set in stone. I was working out the chord progression when the A-string died (you can hear when it happened at the end of the track).

Anywho, PM if you wanna collab on this:

You're liking these collabs lately, aren't you? Not like that's a bad thing, but are you going to be the new collab go-to guy?

I hope so! :)

I'm just tired of making entries that blow because the instrumentation sucks, so I figured I'd try this route. I'll probably start fishing for collabs everytime I've got something, but if no one bites, then I'll just make my usual demo entry.

Wow, a second place finish, which ties or maybe even beats my best ever result!

Lemme know when you wanna do another one together! Maybe next time, we can be the Gawking Urethras... :-)

Gawking Urethras!? OMG! That's really pretty cool!

EDIT: TEN is the most votes I've ever been a part of as well!

I couldn't believe it when I saw that we got 2nd place! I really wanted to work on this one more, but the Xmas season made it difficult for both of us, but apparently the voters weren't as picky as me (and the reviewers).

I would love to do another collab. I dropped out of IT BELONGS TO ME because the music I was writing wasn't working for me. :)

I'd be happy to work with you on more (as the Gawking Urethras no doubt). I'll work on the new tune and let you know when/if I've got something. If YOU get any ideas, send 'em my way!

Congrats!

Well, like I said in my review of your collaboration, I really liked the song. It stands it's own ground on several levels which is hard to do when everything sounds the same these days. Great job to both of you. I hope to hear a lot more like this one.
