songs to go insane to

Post by Mogosagatai »

This is from the AIM profile of a friend of mine:
Challenge 2:

Find a song that, in your opinion, would be a good song to go insane to. It doesn't have to be a particular type of song, just pick something that, come to think of it, would be appropriate for such an occasion. Optionally, you could choose a song that would prepare you for insanity.

End Date: 24.11.04

Drew: "Cats on Mars" Yoko Kanna and the Seatbelts
Ryan: "Sandstorm" Darude
Scarlett!: "Where is My Mind" The Pixies
Carrie: "Danger Bus" Wreckdom
Beth: "Roulette Dares (Haunt of)" The Mars Volta
Hunter: "Face: Face" Norma Jean
Devin: "Leanover" Life Without Buildings
Kate: "Going, Going, Gone" Stars, "Deep in the Heart of Texas"
Sully: "Dois Mil e Um" Os Mutantes
Josh: "The Velorium Camper III: Al the Killer" Coheed and Cambria
Notice anything special about that list? That's right, motherfucker. WreckdoM. Spreading like a rash... (in a good way)

So anyway...

Contribute to the list!

I concur that any work of WreckdoM is a fine soundtrack for insanity - personally though, I'd prefer to slip over the edge to the strains of "Spanish Flea" by Herb Alpert and his Tijuana Brass.

Poing by Rotterdam Termination Source

It reached Number 1 in the Dutch charts in 1992, and has repeutedly been voted the most annoying track of all time. Imagine a comedy 'Boing' sound from a Tom & Jerry cartoon, repeated at 150BPM for three minutes to a Hardcore/Gabber drum track.

The sound track to 2001: A Space Oddessy.... I used to force my sister to listen to that .... scared the crap out of her... yet she always did it anyway... psycho....

Good soundtrack, especially when Blue Danube kicks in... creepy.

Oooh, Anne Murray. Nice one.

I can totally picture myself polishing a rifle and giggling fitfully while Anne Murray croons 'spread your tiny wings and fly away....'

The Puppet's Dream - Lightning Ear Fart
Puppy Love - Donny Osmond

Aphex Twin's Ventolin, original mix, turned up to 11. It's one of my favorite songs, but it's the key to instant insanity. I plan on covering it someday.

"Where is My Mind" The Pixies
funny somebody would mention that song... that's one of my "chill-out" songs -- if i am feeling too stressed out or feel like i AM going insane, i'd put that on, or one of several others, to relax and NOT go insane :?

Yeah, I actually completely agree.

And john m, the mispelling of "Kanno" is due to the guy whose profile that is, not Drew. I know this because I'm Drew.

Well, okay then. Cats on Mars is quirky, but I couldn't go insane to it simply because of its composer.

"Mairsy Doats" (was recently mentioned that it worked for "Twin Peaks")

"You are My Sunshine"

"The Candyman"

"The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round"

"Dreidel, Dreidel, Dreidel" from Mr. Hanky's Christmas... (just isolate the dreidel chorus and put it on "loop")

"Fish Heads" Barnes and Barnes

"Star Trekkin" The Firm

"They're Coming to Take me Away" -Napoleon the XIV (OK, maybe that ones probably *too* bloody obvious)

Those are among the first that occur to me, anyway

Some Velvet Sidewalk "You be the cat, I'll be the mouse. You be the cat and I'll be the mouse. you be the cat....I'll be the mouse (repeat many times)"
That song caused my 3rd breakdown.

Or Leonard Nimoy.

See Ballad of Bilbo Baggins.

Listen to that for an hour on repeat, in a large dance hall filled with LotR fans, and you go slightly mad.
