Angry @ vh1

Post by Verbatim »

So Eric and I sat through another endless countdown last week on VH1 of the 40 most awesomely bad love songs. Funny yes, through the usual crap of Celine Dion, REO Speedwagon, Britney Spears and such. Then came the end, mind you I waited till 3:30 am, to hear them say something that was not only hurtful to me but sooooooo off base. VH1 deemed Lionel Ritchie's Truly as the worst love song ever. I mean are they insane? Lionel Ritchie is worse then Britney Spears, Ricky Martin, or whatever watered down crap they are trying to sell this week? I was just wondering if anyone else caught the show or perhaps had an opinion of naming his song as the worst love song ever.

i stopped watching vh1 a couple months ago. i got tired of the nonstop countdowns that they play. all they do is make fun of things and that gets annoying reeeaaaalllly quick.

at least someone gets me, I guess my anger had a lot to deal with my mom loving lionel when I was a kid, since she's not with me anymore I hate to see anyone say anything about a song she loved so much

Olivia Newton-Johns father, Brin was the Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Newcastle, where I got my first degree. That has nothing to do with her singing crap songs though.

BTW: It's cruel nobody told Ray Charles in your avatar that he is singing into the wrong end of his microphone

Did Mike & the Mechanics do "Broken Wings?" That might be #1 on my list of best/worst inspirational songs.

That's not a love song. That's a pelvic grinding raunchthing. Grace Jones is the man Barry White dreamt of being.

I don't understand the appeal behind this whole "awesomely bad" craze. It's like VH1 wants to like stuff that they know people hate, so they give it this title of "awesomely" bad, when really most of it is just shit. And then, just to piss off the few people they haven't yet, they stick a genuinely good song on the list and call it "aweosmely bad" as well. Grah.
