Re: You Learned To Like It When (You Stopped Fighting Reviews)

Ha! Dang, I went looking for the offended party on the forums and couldn't find the post in question. Liz Phair is not universally loved, that's for sure. I love her and I could still see myself getting somewhat offended by the comparison under certain circumstances. I haven't been to any SF meetups...

Re: You Learned To Like It When (You Stopped Fighting Reviews)

Inspired by being in a dead end relationship for too long, my song gives voice to the inner self of anyone who's given up their fight/passion and has devolved to coasting in life. The inner self that makes you you is angry and yells at you to get past things like dead end relationships (or jobs or ...

lookoutJoe: This was a nice, catchy listen, I really liked the vocals. Kinda reminded me of Beck. Well performed and constructed all around. Locnar: wooo, great deranged vocals! I don't really listen to metal at home but I go to shows occasionally, but not really enough to be able to comment intell...

Vowl Sounds I start the car, the snow's still coming down It's been coming down for days now And the ice has covered up the mirrors But I can't wait until the road is clear Black Mountain waits for me Black Mountain waits I saw a ghost by the side of the road Wearing cutoff jeans and sandals in the...

WreckdoM: I loved the "response" voice in your call-and-response, really hilarious and well done--this was really entertaining, kind of reminded me of Negativland, although I do kind of agree with the comment about it feeling more like a skit than a song. EDGE STREET BOYZ: I couldn't make...

I'm A Sinner

Vowl Sounds Lying is a sin, they say, and so, they say, is lying with Suicide's a sin, they say, but I don't know if just trying is I think I'm damned, I'm dying, girl, To rake my fingers through your curls, Push away the brittle world Push away the world Kiss your fingers one by one Kiss your mout...

Re: One last dance (Before the Music is Over reviews)

leaving on a weeklong business trip so i'm in a bit of a rush--sorry for brevity: Dark side of the son: The instrumentation sounds great and the lyrics are vivid and visual! Nice story song. I like the wistful chord progression. The mix seems a bit muddy once the vocals come in--they feel kind of un...

Re: Dredging Up Some (From The Depths Reviews)

Phunt: This was cool! I really enjoyed the spoken word selection. The musical backing felt a little too loose and also a bit too repetitive to me, but I liked the weirdness of this on the whole. Step Aside: Very nice harmonies and guitar work! It does have a "hair metal ballad"/AOR vibe t...

Before The Music Is Over

Before The Music Is Over by miscellaneous owl I began to see the holes In your velvet eyes I began to see the holes In your velvet eyes Flicker of a moth's wing Beneath your brow Shadow of a bird's wing Behind your frown I began to see the holes I want to see the glory Before the music ends I want ...

Re: We Visited Some Reviews (We Visited A Forest Full Of Graves)

Bone Uppercut: This did a really nice job of evoking a landscape that's beautiful but creepy--I enjoyed my listen but it went on a bit too long for me to keep my attention on it as an active listener. The crashing cymbals towards the end were a nice dynamic change but also snapped me out of the nice...

Re: Track sequencing

I think it's probably best to frontload albums with tracks you think would be most likely to pull people in, because now that people can easily sample and judge albums, I think you'll get a lot of people listening to the first 20 seconds of the first 4 tracks and making a decision on whether to give...

Re: Cut To The Chase (Bone Saw Reviews)

6v6: LOVE the synth solos, the round tone of the high (faux musical saw?) theremin-y synth with all the extra little swishy echoey noises in the background makes me feel warm inside. The whole song does, really, once it gets going, although it took me a minute or so to get into it. Great hooky melo...

First time reviewer. Took me a while to get around to this, sorry! Thank you all for your feedback! Pigfarmer Jr. I really like your use of the samples and the swirly synths--it created a great mood! It doesn't quite come together for me musically--I enjoyed the synth stuff but I found myself wishin...

Never heard of Princeton, but I do love flea markets, so maybe I'll do a road trip up there one of these days and try to pick you out from among the throngs of accordionists. :)
