Re: Cooking

Thanks guys! Maybe I'll shoot Erin a message about it later before making another batch! My mother-in-law's method is stovetop + briefly heated but turned-off oven and she puts the yogurt in a little stoneware pot to set.

Re: Cooking

The ingredients came out of the fridge, which I thought would be cold enough, but maybe I will pre-chill in the freezer next time. I wondered also if starting with whipped cream rather than liquid cream would cause an issue with how solid it would freeze. I only have Splenda and stevia around as art...

Re: Cooking

@fluffy I bought a Dash ice cream maker because I was Influenced by you! I've only tried it once--I may have left the canister out too long before adding the ingredients, but it never got it all the way to ice cream consistency, more of a Blizzard type of texture. I did Splenda-sweetened whipped cre...

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020

Can we get Lichen Throat in here? I have absolutely no idea how that'd work but I want a Lichen Throat live set. I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I don't know how that would work, either. I doubt that watching me sing next to my laptop would be very interesting, especially since I've never performe...

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020

I submitted an acoustic set! I got frustrated with trying to get my software setup working and just recorded it with my phone. I realized too late I should have put my username on the upload instead of my real name (and forgot to introduce myself in the video)— hopefully you can figure it out, JB? p...

Unrelated, sort of: I’m in the process of making some Skillshare art lessons, and I’m very tempted to make one for “how to draw the rest of the fucking owl”.
You should!!!

Re: Cooking

Made a crustless quiche this morning because the cat woke me up chasing a twisty tie around the room at 7 am. 9934B8BE-7849-45F2-8EA1-5219FA4CC0FF.jpeg My husband said “that was the most savory thing I’ve ever tasted. What did you put in there to make it so umami?!” In a lightly greased pie pan, put...

Re: Circle of Titles - The Return

My original plan was to get this done pre-move but that didn’t happen so I’m in a sea of things to unpack and a big project to ship for work but I’m determined to carve out some time this weekend. (I’ve carved out several times already but they have only resulted in noodling.) I do know where my aco...

Re: My Life

Well, Owl, I'm glad that as concerning as diabetes is, it's not something worse and should be controllable. Good luck with all that it involves. In my corner, I've just found out that I have high cholesterol and am at a supposed 10% chance of having a heart attack or stroke within the next ten year...

Re: My Life

Oh jeeze, I missed this on the first read of your post. I know just how frustrating chronic illness can be, and I hope yours is one that isn't too troublesome. You have my sympathies, regardless. Thanks, fluffy and paco—type 2 diabetes, and wasn’t horribly out of control when they caught it. So it’...

Re: My Life

Yep, the starlings were very definitely alive. Luckily for them we don’t use that heater, so keep shelves in front of it and Tadhg couldn’t get to them. When we realised what was going on we put him outside and moved everything so they could get out, and they flew to the front window and out that w...

I also got diagnosed with a chronic illness recently, and that’s taken some time to get used to—it’s been a stressful time. Oh jeeze, I missed this on the first read of your post. I know just how frustrating chronic illness can be, and I hope yours is one that isn't too troublesome. You have my sym...

Re: My Life

@fluffy We stuck steel wool in some gaps in the kitchen wall and it seems to have stopped mice from coming in—at least, it’s greatly reduced the level of obsession our cat has had with the area behind the stove, so I think it helped. @crumpart were the starlings alive? I’m super exhausted from work ...

Re: Circle of Titles - The Return

I’m running late, sorry—today wasn’t as productive as I needed it to be. We’re moving next week and I didn’t really realize how disruptive it would be to not have easy access to couch, guitar, or laptop. Along with trying to shove everything into not quite enough boxes.

Dinner tonight: Trader Joe’s cauliflower gnocchi pan-fried with garlic and ghee, tossed with roasted Brussels sprouts and chopped toasted hazelnuts, red pepper flakes, and a splash of red wine vinegar.
