Re: A Textbook Case

A Textbook Case Hot Pink Halo *** It's a textbook case of malaise You can't see nothing but your own face Staring back at you What do you see in there? It's a textbook case and we need to break it If you can't find a picture then you'll need to take it Let the view find you What do you see in there...

Re: Keep the math book dry in the rain with (A Textbook Case reviews)

Ok, I'm far away from my dad's terrible internet connection (so, I'm at the library), and I'mm down to only wearing my finger splint at night, so I can type! Yay! Berkeley Social Scene : Love the little call and response bits here. I quite like the main vocal delivery as well, but I'd prefer it to h...

Re: Keep the math book dry in the rain with (A Textbook Case reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene: Main riff sounds very police inspired, I like the vocals and the guitar sound here. Actually scratch that, the whole thing sounds great! Brown Word and the Big Whine: Very groovy instrumental in the first part, and the second is brilliantly disorienting. Love the (baritone sa...

Re: the return of sonofgearfight (sogf #5)

And now, some longwinded reviews haha HPH: I quite like the lyrics overall although I’m not totally sure how the “burn baby burn” fits in with the rest of the lyrics. I mean, certainly in a general sense the idea of inspiration and the act of creation, is related to fire and Prometheus and all that...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Three- "My (blank) are the Best People"

Bowed out of this one. Lots of stuff on combined with a headache and not a great love for the title. Might get a shadow in for next week. That’s too bad. I always look forward to your music. You remind me a little of Sneaker Pimps - do you know that band? Aw, thanks Frankie! I do theoretically know...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Two "Factory Reset"

I was going to try and make all the songs about Jonathan Swift, but this one is about BSG instead . I bet JS would have liked that show though. I do indeed have a poster in my bathroom that says "Machines Can't Think". Fade out Reset Leak the script Spread out the net Sleeper cells Regrou...

Well I got a rough draft of lyrics, but it's by far the dumbest thing I've written (and I've set the bar very low in the past).
Please note: my round 1 song was about farts.

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round One "Is This A Joke To You?"

Jonathan Swift really LOVED fart jokes. Is this a joke to you? Hot Pink Halo *** Hey Jon, pick up that bass We’re going low, low, low, low, low, low, low It’s time to speak your mind Let rip a long-winded flow, flow, flow, flow, flow, flow, flow I was never any good at jokes But the punchline is th...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round One- "Is This A Joke To You?"

I have no idea how to do that, but I'll try to figure it out before Sunday this time. Is that part of the bounce process from the DAW (Logic Pro for me) or something added later? You can add a handful of ID3 tags from the MP3 bounce setting in Logic. Just make sure you have MP3 both ticked and sele...

Song notes: This guy put a flyer through my letterbox last week asking me, an immigrant, to vote for him in the local council elections. Yeah nah M8. Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Zero- "For Your Consideration"

Please note: You don't need to couple every instrument you use, just one acoustic/ electric pairing. If you don't have the acoustic/electric version of your instrument of choice, get creative. Samples would work. Virtual instruments probably. Make a convincing argument. This is musical Taskmaster s...

So. I will be playing my song on a Stylophone. Is comb and paper ok for the acoustic version?

https://youtu.be/juD3nWpUunU
I was actually considering this. I think the answer is a pen on a phone.
Or maybe my Stylophone box, which holds all my pens, as a shaker.

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Zero- "For Your Consideration"

Dear Nur Ein overlords,

Do you mean say, an acoustic guitar and a different electric guitar?

An electric guitar and that same electric guitar acoustically recorded?

Could I play 01 PIANO and 02 ELEC PIANO on my Casio SA-1 and meet the challenge?

Kind regards, etc.

Re: SpinTunes 22 Round 2 Challenge: Marco! Polo!

It's a really charming track and sticks out because of how quirky the rhythm is. Not sure about the f-bomb. I can't decide whether it cheapens it or adds that shock factor. Ha! I know an F-bomb always divides, but those response parts are made up of actual things real people wrote in a guestbook I ...

(Sometimes I choose logic presets purely for their names. Making an angry song about colonialism? British Invasion. Missing home? Dublin Delay. Feeling silly? Pop Sparkler. Etc. And by sometimes I generally mean “all the time”.)
