Re: Rest In Peace

Jill Sobule has died. In a house fire. I talked to her on the phone 8 days ago. I am having a difficult time processing this. Jill hosted online songwriting courses when COVID hit. I was lucky enough to attend a few of them. This is a spontaneous, joyous version of Mexican Wrestler that Jill perform...

Re: Rest In Peace

I have just been informed that Dennis of sonofsupercar has passed away.

Dennis's good friend reached out via Instagram, and he's attempting to create an account here.

I'm shocked.

Re: Guess the Judges!

This is very detailed. Do you mean Mr. Blue or Mr. Blonde? Mr. Blue is an alternate judge who has not posted reviews nor figured into the ratings. He was a “shadow judge” lurking in the background in case someone flaked. A-ha! That makes sense! An oversight on my part. Still, as luck would have it,...

Re: SOMESONGS - ROUND ONE

Thanks, Glenn, for requesting some of the older SongFight tunes I missed. I'm now a big Cow Exchange fan and loved Glenn's punk cover version of 'Ain't Gettin' Any' and played some Roymond classic requests for the post show! You're welcome and thank you for playing them! I asked Plat (The Cow Excha...

Re: A parade, or a marathon?! (A Grand Parade reviews)

Mo is correct. I played a part in 10 songs.

Agony Sauce
Basket Robbers
Def Author
Explino!
Frontalittle Squad
Glenn and Rachael
Glenn Case
Rachael Layne
Shark Tornado
sonofsupercar

Only a clean 10 percent if we stopped at 100 entries, though.

It has been a while I will do haiku reviews My first impressions Abjure! : Pleasant harmonies Not that much profanity Mildly suggestive Abominominous : Bring the rock, good sir Is there a bass in this song? ...And Justice For All Add : Great as expected Grand fucking parade, indeed! Re: A parade, or a marathon?! (A Grand Parade reviews)

Listening to the songs as I work my second job, and I am absolutely loving the Hostess Mostess submission. Surprising no one. Gorgeous melody.

I will almost assuredly review the other songs, but that one stood out for sure.

Add is also stellar as always.

A Grand Parade The Def Author Back in my formative years, I guess you could say I wasn't exactly the envy of my peers In fact, when it came to my identity it's accurate to say I was more of a non-entity Not seen, not heard, not felt But reasonably good at entertaining myself And it can't be helped, ...

Thanks, Sam!

For the record - I did have some help from Songfighters this time.

Sam Douglass played lead guitar and the solo for "Love Your Soul"

Mo Ouyang with solos on "Think Fast" and "That's Not Who I Am"

Glenn Case - Be Somebody Else

Hi there! Been a hot minute! What have I been up to? Well, I have released a few albums, and won $10,000 from Cards Against Humanity for writing and recording their favorite "Everybody Loves Chowder" song on Black Friday, 2021. I suppose I could have made a separate thread for that. Oh wel...

Re: sonofgearfight #1: "These are the Jokes"

I've been combing through the somesongs archives looking through Blue's reviews, and there are some zingers in there. So, I'm picking some classic Blue Lang reviews to include here. Heid Classic Blue Lang review that fits: "this is a pretty song. i like it." My thoughts: Good vocal. Percus...

Dennis! We have never communicated, but I am a huge fan of your band! I backed up everything that Blue had on Songhole before it went away, so I have an enormous archive of sonofsupercar mp3s if you're interested. This includes rehearsals, and everything else that was on Songhole. It's a lot. Hundre...

And for the record- I am absolutely planning to put together a tribute to Blue Lang similar to what I threw together for Seth Gibbs.

But if anyone has Blue Lang stories that they wouldn't mind sharing? I'm going to start setting up Zoom sessions in the near future.

Thanks for sharing; I was definitely curious but didn't want to ask. Stomach cancer is what got Seth Gibbs, and those cancers are very hard to detect and even if you do catch them early they're still tough to treat. You're welcome and thank you. And you're exactly right. Hard to detect, and tough t...

I got confirmation from Amber Lang that it was okay to share this:

"He was being tested for stomach or pancreatic cancer - he passed quietly in his sleep on Saturday . No one knew he was sick like this ."
