Hey, good to see you guys, and that you guys have been sticking to soundfight. The oursongs site is still in a bit of flux. I have a lot of ideas for it, but open to suggestions. It will be mostly focused around musicians and creativity. I'm running a different system now that gives me a lot of flex...

The Music Industry - What's to Come?

I've been researching and asking people around the net about the future of the record industry lately, and wanted to get more perspectives. It's obvious that with the internet and mp3s, old ways of doing things in the record industry simply won't work anymore. This has been reflected by plummeting c...

Aside from bringing a real megaphone, I'd imagine you could get a similar effect using these types of effects: -reverb or slight delay -eq - where you can drop the Hi's and Lo's completely and using only a specific mid-range frequency -distortion - a touch to make the sound a bit crappy I would also...

Your general building store (home depot, menards, etc.) may not have this stuff. If you call around to different types of businesses you may have better luck. For instance, building contractors sometimes will have good acces to this stuff and may be willing to sell directly. I found an insulation co...

This is also really great, and also related to Steve Albini. The problem with music Note: He's now up to $600 a day according to electrical.com ROCK! Glenn Case Agreed, this is an awesome article. Anyone who plans to sign to a major label should be forced to read this first. Thanks for the movie. I...

Hello from Justin (Sal) of Oursongs

Just wanted to drop in and say hi. I've been an off and on lurker of songfight, since near its beginnings. I'm happy to see it still going strong. To still see the interest after all these years is cool. I still have some "old school" Brick Pig (Bad Dreams is one of my favorites), Raised b...
