Re: Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

Ooh, those are pretty. Pretty expensive . (But also pretty.) I think I'll try the Auralex MoPad first, since it gets good reviews and the angle might also help to cut down on resonance with the wall or something (although that wall is also covered with acoustic foam panels so I'm not sure how much m...

Re: Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

okay so yeah the wall's resonant frequency is 135Hz. But just decoupling the speakers from it won't make much of a difference; if I play 135Hz through just one speaker and hold it in my hands the rattling/shaking/etc. still happens. So I think I need a bass trap, or maybe I really do need to figure ...

Re: Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

I own, but it's a condo and the construction is weird and I'd rather not go into a major project like that right now. Unfortunately my monitors don't have any built-in EQ. They're just some midrange Fostexes I got on clearance. Cinder blocks would be too tall, but that's an interesting idea. I did j...

Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

Lately my recording studio's setup tends to add a lot of bass emphasis to my monitor speakers and so I end up doing my mixing on headphones. I really need to get around to figuring out what's wrong with my audio treatment. I think I need to refresh the foam I've been using to decouple my speakers fr...

I'm tempted to do this. Right now I can't record instruments but my voice works fine.

Tomb of the Mask is fun, although annoying with the upsell-on-death.

Something like that. Back then forum software didn’t do anything to prevent a large image from disrupting a page layout, but HTML has evolved since then.

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

Oh yeah, Nevada!

A thread was getting rather heated. So someone (Jefff, I think?) posted a very large picture of scenic Nevada to calm everyone down, which had the fun side effect of messing up the horizontal wrapping of the page.

it became a whole thing.

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

Oh and I remember the first protracted fight discussion thread was for Experimantal Fashion, where many people seemed to be out for blood because of amsmsmsptk’s weird abstract noise-art piece, and many others were totally into it and thought it was totally in keeping with the title. I think that le...

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

So here’s some technical details as I remember them; this was of course a long time ago so I might be getting some of it wrong but I’m going to the best of my ability here. Originally the fight format wasn’t open; Narbotic would invite people to join in and it was just a few of his friends. Eventual...

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

Not quite a native, but I grew up in Albuquerque from 1981 to 1995, and lived mostly in Las Cruces from 1995 to 2004 (for college and grad school).

Re: Golfpunk Rides Again

20 years ago I knew this guy, you probably know the type. His name was Gary or Greg or something, but everyone knew him as Golfpunk. His whole thing was breaking in windows of expensive cars using a golf club to protest the wealth gap or... somethin' like that. Anyway, he called himself a performanc...

So, I couldn't not do something for the 20th, so I entered a thing.

I’m probably going to do a last minute entry using the only piece of music hardware I still have from back then (not counting the shitty mic).
