Re:

Also, it's important to keep the master track effects/plugins disabled during all recording/mixing. I mostly agree, but I do like to mix with a compressor on the master channel. As with all things in mxing, EMWVA ( everyones millage will vary always ). Hi All, I was going to say the same thing. I t...

Re: Open vs closed back headphones survey

Similar to JB, I use closed back for tracking and open back for mixing, though I'll use either for either at times. I've also been using in-ear phones for tracking as sometimes I hear click bleed on my fades and this seems to help.

24/48

Though I just realize my last couple of tracks were at 96K. I didn't realize the settings on my new interface were off. Totally explains why my system was starting to strain.

Didn't quite get this to where I wanted it, but I'm in with another simple song.

Re: Unsaddle the horse and write your (Golfpunk Rides Again reviews)

I'm sitting outside in my backyard listening on my laptop speakers... Brown Word and the Big Whine : This track totally fits the title. Guitar sounds good, but I wish I could hear the drums better. Vocals are good and up front, but maybe just a little loud and dry. I'm not sure how this section that...

Re: Covering random songs from the archive

I don't need the 24 hour bonus. I would like the bonus for adding the lyrics to the archive: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=9195

Thanks Sam. I hope bringing this back doesn't cause you too much trouble.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive

Hi All,
Here is my cover of Aggabagga's Bully. I almost made the 24 hour time frame, but needed assistance with the solo. That is all Lunkhead!

Re: flabby, farty bass (and mix balance in general)

If you aren't ready to get a new bass, it might be worthwhile to have the bass you have set up by a professional. There could certainly be issues with string heights and pickup alignment that are making your bass sound differently than you would like.

This is very similar to a Nur Ein challenge in Nur Ein VII.

Re: Unsaddle the horse and write your (Golfpunk Rides Again reviews)

Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff : Pretty solid composition on this one, good clear vocals with really good singing and harmony. Ken your singing has improved so heckin' much over the last two decades, it's amazing. (v) Thank you. It has (I took voice lessons for a while), as has my use of auto-tune...

Re: Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

You might also try something heavy, like a brick, paver, or a piece of stone countertop underneath the mopads. Oh, the other thing you could try are those inverted cones people use to decouple speakers from surfaces: https://blog.teufelaudio.com/speaker-decoupling-and-coupling/ https://www.parts-exp...

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

Flying to San Francisco to meet weird internet people for the first Song Fight Live, organized by MC Frontalot IIRC at a defunct place called "Hot Lunch". Went to the SongFight! presents in late 2003 at that weird venue above in an industrial neighborhood near 280 (is my recollection?). I remember ...

Re: Studio acoustics: speaker mounting

Do you own or rent? If you own, maybe you can poke some holes in that wall and add insulating foam? I think a cheap way to isolate your speakers is with Cinder Blocks. I've used them in the past. Would using those put your monitors above an ideal listening position? Can you roll off the bass on your...

Re: Song Fight! Is 20 Years Old!!!

Thanks for sharing our history all. I found out about Songfight from a couple of guys I was playing in a band with in 2001. They had gone to that first SF show and came back insisting that this was a thing for me. I was already writing a lot of songs, often from titles, and transitioning from record...
