Re: SOMESONGS - ROUND FOUR
Add - For some reason, I have Add in my mind as a guitar band, but no biggie; there's that trademark slightly too loud keyboard. Nothing wrong with the song at all, but just a bit predictable overall. Points for the lyric but also points off because of the 'avenue' rhymes are a bit basic. I guess t...

Re: SOMESONGS - ROUND TWO
Oops, didn't include a statement in my email. I think it's obvious I used the challenge. What's not obvious is that, except for the chorus, the instruments are played using the "wrong" controllers -- keys or electronic drums.

Re: SOMESONGS - ROUND ONE
Statement: well, the idea was that rather than do my usual build-up, I would tear the song down as it went. Did it come through in the end? You (the judges) be the judge(s)!

This is the keyboard that we'll have. (No wireless MIDI unit or sustain pedal.) https://www.casio.com/us/electronic-mus ... .CTS1RDBT/

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Do you usually bring your own power strip to plug all your components into so that your setup just requires one outlet? Or would you need a power strip provided? Sounds like you might need a MIDI keyboard and if so there is one. Otherwise sounds like you need an XLR cable and a free channel on the ...

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
I could probably make my garage available. Is your garage air conditioned? It is not. Also, I have been rehearsing there a bit, and we probably want to minimize it for the neighbors' sake. Maybe a few hours in the middle of the day Thursday. And then we should have all day Friday and Saturday at th...

I'd have to look to see what I've traded but I know I have A Fender Bassman 10 (4x10 combo, heavy but sounds delicious) A Fender Supersonic 22 combo A Fender Frontman 25R (which is very small but surprisingly useful for smaller gigs. It's what I used in Madison. Upgraded speaker to give it some oom...

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Yes, that's correct. MIDI keyboard to laptop to audio interface to mixer to DI box. The audio interface sends out stereo sound, but I use the DI box to convert to mono. The output is a regular XLR microphone cable which can be plugged into the PA. I'll try to get a look at/photo of the sound setup....

Re: Song Fight! Live 2024 Mountains and Melodies
Any ideas for a rehearsal space? I've been checking around and they seem few and far between. I'm gonna be in town for a while (I'm coming to Denver the weekend before for an event with a different online community) so I can scout in necessary. The last time around, we booked a space at Swallow Hil...

Ok. So leave from work is sorted (you just had a holiday? It’s a rock and roll thing dude…). Flights are cool. Accommodation? Any tips. Just seems like a lot of big box hotels in downtown Denver. That’s fine - any tips on where there are Simpson style Moes Bars an obnoxious Australian may feel welc...

Re: A mahogany 1979 Gibson Les Paul Custom (Immovable Object reviews)
3-listen reviews! Dead Ambassadors 1. Powerful-sounding intro, nice thick guitar sound. I missed the title on this listen. On first blush, the rapid-fire lyrics could use some more precise diction. 2. Like the descending melody "weighs me down more and more every day". Thematically appropr...

Re: Cherish the time as it slowly disappears (Unstoppable Force reviews)
Great thread, if a little overwhelming. I'll say these days, Youlean is amazing for creating a tangible loudness goal that isn't just as loud as possible. Also, for my part I try to solve most EQ issues track by track with the vocal being the trickiest balance between bright and grating.

I have a local drummer friend who said he was free for the show days and is willing to be a mercenary drummer.
