I actually drank moonshine once. It was out of a jug. I felt the sudden urge to cross the Mason Dixon and do a close relative.

I might not be in this week after all. I'm building a new PC for recording, but it's sitting in pieces on my floor. I swapped in the new mobo, but it turns out I need a new power supply. I'm too lazy to re-assemble it with the old mobo just to record a song.

Dang, that would have been 25 weeks in a row.

I'm aiming for Moonshine. We'll see how it goes, but like te President and Red Sox Nation, I'm foolishly optimistic.

Moon Shine... Provided I can get my act (and studio) together.
Good title too. Very Van Morrison.

Hi kids. First post! Think I might enter the moonshine fight. Can't guarantee that the song will be any good, but I think it has a sort of weird and nice energy. Though no chorus of any kind yet and I've gotta work this weekend. Gah.

I'm determined to make it happen, though. Wrote a couple of verses today, so we'll see what happens.

You all rock very hard indeed.

I'm currently using a razor without adequate lumination. After the other week's rocking SongFightUK fest as part of Pompeii I thought I should distance myself from that for a while, hence why I've done a mushy ballad.

You should submit it anyway. My first song was shit and I knew it. At least we all know that you've got talent. Plus, if the verses are really good, it might make up for sub-par chorus.

Love,

ehh if i don't get around to re-doin' it... i'll probably send it in anyway then... but i really actually wrote another moonshine song on my guitar that i can't do till i get my guitar fixed... oh well... haha...

just don't like the chorus at all... and the drums i added... ended up messin' up... and i was too tired to notice till later haha... so yea a lil' enduring... i may re-do it though if i get an urge

I'm 'Shaving in the dark' as long as I get the chance of a quiet hour to record the vocals.

Moon Shine

Post by astrolamb »

Doing Moon Shine - sounding drastically different than anything else I've done (not expecting any Biafra references this round). If anybody is interested in giving any constructive criticism so I can try to get it patched up before submitting it, it's here: http://www.nagodadesign.com/robdog/Astr ... nShine.mp3

uhm... the vocals seem kind of out of place in the mix... don't know if that makes sense... either there needs to be more filling in the music... or less in the vocals... or make the vocals carry a bit more...

(don't know if that makes any sense at all)... i could show you better then i could explain haha :-)

all and all it's not too bad i like certain parts of it quite a bit

Yeah - the vox . . . I tried effects - reverb and such - but it sounded really bad. I tried EQ-ing it and it helped but not a lot. Any other suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated though.

I cleaned it up a tiny bit, brought the trem'd guitar down a tad and pushed the lead forward. It helps. Maybe I'll try singing it again tonight and see if I can push out a better performance.

Thanks.

I just sent in my Moon Shine. I've gotten some good response from my friends so far, so its making me feel a bit more confident about it.

I hope y'all like it!

Love always,

I'm probably voting for Astrolamb. Jesus, I love that song. Just jumps out at me.

"Please God let the moon shine tonight, so I can see the glint of light on the blade ..."

But -- open mind, open mind, always.
