November 6, 2007 - Is there anybody out there?

Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

I also love "This is Spinal Tap" (Rent it JR - skip class or something, but see it). I saw "Gimme Shelter" on TV this summer and was pretty blown away by that, too.

I'll post again about the ones that I forgot.

How come no one has mentioned that Kiss movie at the amusement park?
The Wall is up there for me. I was such a Pink Floyd fan boy when I was younger. Spinal Tap is classic and I love A Hard Days Night for what it was. Yellow Submarine was cute too. "Can't help it, I'm a born lever puller"

My favorite movie of all time is not exactly a 'rock n roll' movie but IS a musical. The Nightmare Before Christmas.

Rent (now that its also a movie) has some pretty good tunes.

I'll conclude with The Rocky Horror Picture Show. (I have the soundtrack) Hot patooty bless my soul, I really love that rock n' roll.

I have an empty dvd case but someone nicked the disc. I don't care because the film sucked.
That is taken under advisement.

I own the 'The Wall' on cd - I really like it. I bought Dark Side of the Moon recently too. What a great band.

At this point "Almost Famous" edges out "This Is Spinal Tap" as my favorite. Reading this thread brought to mind "Phantom of the Paradise". That was a strange one.

After some thought, I'm going with "Grace of My Heart".

I really enjoyed Hedvig.

I used to enjoy Spinal Tap, but, yes, I could probably recite that movie, so it's safe to say I'm tapped out.

"The Wall" and "Heavy Metal" were also fun.

spinal tap and the blues brothers are obvious all time faves for me.

i also liked ken russell's version of "tommy". and the rolling stones rock and roll circus. and the song remains the same.

another awesome movie is "festival express" about an extended train trip across Canada with the grateful dead, the band, janis joplin, buddy guy, and lots of other musicians who all went on a train tour across Canada. a really fascinating documentary.

i want to do a songfighter version of the festival express. :)

I hate Rocky Horror. Wasn't Meatloaf in that? That would explain it. Yuk. But that's just me and my quirky snobberishness. I do like Tim Curry. But that kind of rock and roll can sit outside with The Who and The Doors.

Plus, sort of buzzed right now on my weekend weisse beer.

I read a news story about Meatloaf today, saying he got a couple of verses into Dashboard Light and then announced that that show could possible be his last ever, and then walked off.

I started some basic work on the SF Wiki, making a section about 'My Eternal Mixing Problems'. Not just the stuff in that thread though - I hope to talk about most of the songs I've made for SF and put up all the good advice I've gotten. I think it would be really informative, especially for beginners.

Denyer speaks the truth. The film did suck.

I remember going to see it quite exitedly expecting big things. I was disappointed.

The only Australian contribution to great rock&roll movies was not a movie, but the wonderful TV series Sweet & Sour from the early 80's. Watching it after school was a seminal monent in my life. It is a crime that it has never been made available on DVD - I would love to see it again.

Great movies - yes Spinal Tap and Blues Brothers of course. To those I would add The Girl Can't Help It to form the holy triumverate of rock music movies

What about John Safran's Music Jamboree? Not a movie, but an awesome TV show about music and musicians.

Perhaps we need a This Is Caravan Ray movie?

Yes - John Safrans's Musical Jamboree! I forgot about that.
BTW: did you know that Denyer and John Safran are actually the same person. They sound the same anyway.

And of couse, the Caravan Ray movis has been in production for years, but my hard-drive keeps getting seized by the vice-squad

Now you mention it, there is a striking similarity between Denyer and Mr Safran. Spooky.

And tell the vice-squad to get their own animal porn.
