the idiot kings covers project
hey all!
it's been a while. a good long while. and it's not the first time. but this time, i'm prepared to atone for my sins. for even if i go wayward, i will return to the 'fight.
the proof is in the proverbial pudding, so i shall put my money where my mouth is and perhaps even use another colloquialism in the process. i offer to my fellow songfighters of yore and new, the first three of you to contact me with a song of your own from songfight, and i shall record a cover of it in a timely fashion. let's say two weeks per cover (starting tomorrow, in the order received) that's it. no strings attached. if there's enough interest, i may consider doing new versions for others who request them, as well.
sure, i guess this is vaguely egotistical, thinking that you would want me to do this. but i know i love the idea of someone covering a song of mine and hearing what they did with it. think of this as a friendly holiday gift from the idiot kings.
any takers?
Edit:
Please PM requests.

Yes, he does! It's because of the Idiot Kings that Jack and I got in our first fight on the board! Cover the Hell Yeahs because you brought the Shite and the Yeahs together! I know it was supposed to be in a PM... sorry about that!

Don't cover me, since I never covered you.
Still, welcome back, and boy do I get how you feel.

wow, thanks for the praise!
i'm well into my first cover, which is a hell of a way to start: reïst's uberlong (and fortunately, uberawesome) "maki".
also on deck are test week hiatus, king arthur, and jack, but if you sent me a request, i'll likely do it. thanks again for the warm welcome back!

Lord of Oats Covers Project
I saw this early enough to get in on this, but for whatever reason, I chose not to, at the time. Meh. Pretty weird, actually. It's very hard for me to turn down free stuff.
Anyway, I thought I'd do this myself. I'm not sure why, exactly. Maybe I'm atoning for writing too many words and generally being an idiot, or something. Does seem egotistical, though, doesn't it? And I just look like a big copycat, now, don't I? Didn't even bother to get my own thread! But can you guys argue with free? Plus, this isn't going to be limited by number of requests. But it will be limited by time.
Though none of these rules are all that strict, mind you. Although how closely you follow them will be duly noted. It may be exciting to see how creatively you can break them. But in any case, I reserve the right to change them at any point, and of course, you reserve the right to request specific changes to them if there's a decent reason to, or to just make completely whacky, unreasonable demands of me. Understanding that I reserve the right to tell you to go fly a kite if you get too obnoxious. But isn't that how we all normally conduct ourselves, anyway?
Anyone who gets a request of this nature to lordofoats@gmail.com by the end of this year will receive a recording by the end of next year. Reasonably, you can start expecting stuff much sooner than that, but given that there's no ceiling, I have to allow for the small possibility that I'll be given a crippling workload and will need plenty of time to deal with it.
