Wages (me!) - Originally, I wrote these lyrics for a possible collab with Caravan Ray, but time did not permit (instead, he did an INCREDIBLE cover of YMCA!), so I did the tune solo (hate to see the lyrics go to waste). Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to better record this one, so this is my "skirmish-type" entry (recorded only once, perhaps rehearsed 5 or 10 times). Though, I feel it turned out pretty good. Anyone wanna redo the tune with me? 8/10 (not to say it's the best song, but just that when compared to the rest of MY songs, I see it as pretty darned good).

Chopped Liver Meat God - Nice bass and breathy-vocals, and the lead guitar ain't bad either. 7/10

Timmy the Tapeworm - OMG, another assault on my speakers! Trying to make music here, not utter noise. 0/10

My vote goes to Chopped Liver Meat God an an altogether pretty good tune.

Wages - nice melody! Some of the words feel a bit clumsy - second verse especially, where there seem too many words for the tune and also that deaf and dumb metaphor doesn't work so well. Great falsetto towards the end! More of that please! Special award for best Prince-impersonating Falsetto So Far! Once again an affecting vocal performance (except the second chorus where you seem to lose the melody for a moment.)

CLMG - Nice low slung bass and cute funky guitar. Don't like the whispered vocal take. Sounds as vaugely uncomfortable to listen to as it sounds like it was to record. I was thinking "You better change up this groove at some time or I'm going to be cross at the waste of a great moment" - and when you do it's not big enough, sing-along enough - this is a groove that deserves a big chorus not a standard blues shift. by 2.30 I am a little bored. It's just not sexy enough and when you start acting sexy it is possibly the least sexy thing I have ever heard :) Nice falsetto following of the solo. Almost a very good song but not quite there in several ways and most importantly not quite funky enough when in association with the king of sex-funk (no, not Rick James)

CLMG could have stormed this with a bit more work, but Wages gets my vote for the tune and the vocalising.

Alright, so, it's a learning process, okay? You're right in that it certainly deserves a better chorus. If you have any ideas, go ahead. Keep whatever you like and throw away anything you don't. I imagine my vocals are the first thing to go. You're not going to believe me if I say I was actually going for anti-sexy, as a satire of poorly-done sexy music, since this seems to amount to poorly-done sexy music. Basically, this wasn't well thought-out or inspired enough, and I didn't have enough time to develop it into what I wanted, and all that applies double to the vocal take. If I try to record this type of vocal again, I'll make sure I'm actually engaged in sexual activity at the time, so as to sound more convincing. My, to think I was sexy this whole time without even trying, and then I start breathing a bit and I achieve the opposite. What a fine day it is for me. But this is why CLMG took part in the Purple Reign instead of the Lord of Oats. Of course, I suppose it soils my reputation no less in your mind. As far as the part with the falsetto and the guitar, just so you know, that was recorded live, singing as I was playing, and I was impressed that I did that as well as I did. I only hear a couple of spots where it's off. I said to myself, "My, for once, I know what the hell I'm playing. How about that? I hope this isn't the start of any trend." Because, you know, it's much more fun when you give your ears a break and let all your fingers do all the work.

Well, you succeeded then! :)

No reuptations have been ruined. It's just while it's a learning process for you, it's a listening process for me, and I have to review with that in mind. I can't make exceptions for you - it wouldn't be fair to others.

No biggy, anyhoo, I hope that a few things I say seep through and help you out.

Blergh...whatever I'm trying to put in this box isn't coming out the right way. Not in reference to my first response, but to what I just erased. I have to go for now, but perhaps I'll e-mail you if I can recall this sentiment later on. Or perhaps I will be able to communicate more effectively if I can't.

Wages - For some reason, I can imagine this with violins that come in at around 1:00. I also like how you have put in a couple of those lines that requires squashing all the lyrics in really quickly.

Timmy the Tapeworm - At least this one was short!

Chopped Liver Meat God - I think i have the exact same snare sample. Rad. More porn groove, too. Legs was singing 'Man I Feel Live A Woman' while this was playing, and it oddly fit.

"I'm Yours" Reviews

Wages: Bloke. The "I'm yours" verses are week. The bridges are much better. There are some odd lyrical choices in this. And the high note was not a good idea at all. Decent song but is it enough to win in the challenge of bands who did all the titles?

Timmy the Tapeworm: It was all over the place which is good for a noise track. But there's not a lot that can be done in 14 seconds.

CLMG: Meat God gets funky on the last song of the compilation. Nice little guitars all over this. I'm not down with the vocal delivery on this. It's got some potential, but nothing more.

My vote goes to Wages.

Wages - This is alright. As usual, more instruments would probably make this better. This gets the vote by default, I guess. It's not bad, or anything. I just don't think I have much to offer about it.

Chopped Liver Meat God - Terrible. Find a real job. Nah, it's alright. I think it'd be better as an instrumental. And yeah, it needs a real chorus. Oh, god, this is embarrassing. Yeah, I hope Phil wins and this is forgotten forever. Actually, I kind of like the groove. I'd kind of like for it to be recycled into a real song.
