i had this epipheny, home-depot moment this morning. i had this piece of shelving laying around for the longest time, and as i was standing in my kitchen, i found the perfect spot for it, so i hung it. i'm really not one of those home improvement types, mostly because i uh.....rent.

i hate to gloat but i was wearing shorts and a t-shirt outside a half hour ago.

sports
warriors finally throw that laker monkey off their back. 49ers have a coach with a proven track record for losing, a number one pick quarterback who has shown little for the time, effort, and money invested, and no hope for a quick turnaround. a shell of a a once proud team.

QotD: I've been making the pumpkin stew from the Brocolli Garden book (or maybe the second in that series) for years. It's awesome. You bake it in the pumpkin shell and serve it from the table. Most impressive, whether a large one or little individual ones for everyone.

We're about to see Alvin, watching the crappy commercials now. Went ice skating at Bryant Park this morning, then to the Forbes Gallery, which is an awesome little collection of toy boats, those little soldier sets, and the original Monopoly game sets. MY PLANS FOR TODAY:

1. Sleep in [ACCOMPLISHED]
2. Clean my apartment some more [PENDING]
3. Hang out with a couple of local animators I'm friends with and work on some ultra-short films [PENDING]

AS FOR THE QUESTION: there are many things which work very well this time of year. Butternut squash soup. Leek and potato soup. Roasted chicken with cranberry compote. An adjective-verbed portion of plant-or-animal in a reduced fluid demiglaze [FILL IN THE BLANKS]. This morning I had scrambled eggs with Italian sausage, and I am feeling fat and sassy.

I on the other hand LOVE to gloat about the weather. I got on my bike and rode down Bayshore Blvd. and broke much sweat.

I'm dying my hair black as I'm typing this. Thanks for helping me pass the time Songfight folk.

qotd: Gallon of real apple cider into a large pot. Add lots of cinnamon (sticks work really well), clove (again, whole works good), and nutmeg. Good amount of brown sugar and honey to taste. Heat thoroughly but don't necessarily boil. Strain out any foreign objects still in there. Turn the heat down to just under 177 degrees. (the evaporation point of alcohol) ADD as much rum as you can stand to taste.

I just have a hard time with this. Just reading it makes me smell pumpkins with candles burning in them, like, on Halloween.

I've seen you say it twice now, so I'm just going to have to make it and try it.

I ended up not getting any cleaning done but I did get some animations hashed out with my animation friends. PLUS: I am finally learning Flash, and have now animated two whole seconds of stupid things! WOO.

News: One of my mates if off to China for an extended amount of time soon, so we had a small farewell LAN for him. About a half dozen of us, booze, and a clutch of games that my computer was far to shitty to run at any level of decency. Not a bad night, and now I have had slept in 27 hours. I am feeling the tiniest bit seedy.

Entertainment: I worked some more on my GoM entry, and got it to a point where I decided it sounded like absolute shit and have now scrapped the whole thing. I think my contribution will end up being the faint sounds of me sobbing in the corner.

QOTD: Letting me cook results in a slow, painful death. So recipes are kept well away from me.

No. Let me make this clear: NO Jack-o-lanterns are hurt during the making of this stew. I don't like the idea of making it look like that. I'll dig up a picture. (truth be told, you know, it's not that much different withut the face).
