There was a time when I spent new years in VT, skating on the beaver pond with friends who would show up unannounced. The "understanding" was that new years happened that way. We once had 5 visitors, we once had 35. The loft was a shared space and at times we were packed in. Someone knew to feed the fire around 3 a.m. so the embers didn't go out entirely. On new years morning there were waffles-a-plenty.
Happy New Year.

Roll Call: Happy New Year! The show went okay. Not the busiest NYE show I've done, but it was not bad. Today is a day off, and me and the boys are gonna play ROCK BAND. Yeah!
QotD: Didn't have a drop to drink last night, so I'm in pretty good shape today. I had too far to drive to bother taking the risk.

No headache; we went to bed about 9:30 last night after watching "First Snow" and "Guy Terrifico," both of which were pretty good. I think there was a little schnapps in my evening cocoa, but that's about it. Up at 4:30 to walk the dogs this morning and ready to get on with a new year!

No headache. Drank Newcastles on the couch with Phil, watching season 7 of Survivor (we finished season 12 before we went to Sacramento for Christmas. It's fun watching old ones).
We almost forgot to kiss at midnight! Phil looked at the clock at exactly midnight and said "Shit, Happy New Year!" and gave me a big stubbly kiss!
We were invited to a party, but it was 45 minutes away in the snow and we couldn't really get a babysitter, although we didn't really try that hard. We also would've had to spend the night, so that means we still would've been there if we went.
I'm getting old!

QOTD: Nope, I'm feeling pretty chipper this morning. I'll have to try a little harder tonight.
Got up early and met some friends in San Clemente and hoofed it down the beach and over some rocks to one of our surfing spots. We call it our secret spot, but it's not really much of a secret now that they've invented airplanes. It's actually just a pain to get to, so not many people go there except the people who live on the cove cliff above. But it's a guarded community, so you can't get there from the street. The water was m*ther f*cking freezing! But I had a full suit, so I warmed up pretty quick. I don't see how the Polar Bear club does it. No wetsuit, just speedos and flip flops, lol.

qotd: nope, but I only had a couple of drinks, at a party where everyone around me was getting wasted and stoned and probably doing lines of coke in the bathroom.
I was actually considering trying pot for the first time ever, but then I noticed how absolutely stupid and trashy everyone was, so even if that's more of a network effect of getting idiots together in a room, I still wanted nothing to do with it.
I think my original plan of staying home with a movie and a bottle of Prosecco would have been better. Oh well.
Welcome to the future, everybody.

If you never have, you shouldn't start. Pot is a gateway drug and before you know it, you'll be doing pans and colanders. Then the next thing you know, you'll be completely strung out on various other kitchen utensils. You'll start hanging out in the cookware section at the Ikea, needing bigger and more exotic wares, so you'll buy a tagine, all the while telling yourself that you can stop anytime that you want. Don't do it Fluf, just say NO!fluffy wrote: I was actually considering trying pot for the first time ever

I hate to end this incredibly funny run of posts, but I forgot to mention that I got a Tagine and a Moroccan cook book for Christmas. I may use it today, which is probably why it was on my mind up there in my laugh a minute Internet skit.
By the way, do you think I should open with the "pot and pans" joke, or Charcoal's "snowing all year" bit?
New years day jokes just never get old. I think I officially posted the first one of the year here.

C-monk and I flew in yesterday, and I was so tired that I passed out at about 9:30 after watching the Dr. Who x-mas special. (Kylie Minogue??? Holy Crap!)
We did drink some bubbly, though, which likely expedited the pass out.
Today I'm attempting work on my GOM.
No headache!
fluffy, if you've never smoked the pot, I recommend that your maiden voyage be not at a party, but rather with a small group of good friends doing something entertaining, like hiking, playing music, or playing Wii.
(Not that I have any first-hand knowledge of such stuff.)

My headache didn't really start until we pulled off onto the last stretch of highway on the way home and found that it hadn't been plowed, salted, or de-iced. We should have been home within a half-hour, but that delayed us three hours.
On the plus side, we did make it home. Saw a lot of accidents on the road today. Glad to not be one of them.
Now, if Cleveland will cooperate, I'll be boarding a plane to sunny New Orleans in the morning.
