Sir Ed

I met him many years ago at a benefit for the American Himalayan Foundation in San Francisco. One of the nicest people I've ever met, humble and down to earth. A truly inspiring and benevolent man, who used his celebrity to bring a better standard of living for many people.

RIP Sir Ed.

I saw this on the news today. He seemed like a great man - very charitable ... you're lucky to have met him. RIP

RIP.
Never heard of him, but one thing I've come to know, Jack doesn't talk jack. Any impressionable man on Jack, is an impressionable man on me. Now if you will excuse me, I will spend my moment of silence on Google.

WTF!?!?!
I know there are very few world famous New Zealanders - but he was definitely one of them.

But yes - he was a very impressive dude. A real adventurer and his commitment to the Sherpa people was truly admirable.

Perhaps, in his honor, I will eat a kiwi on top of the burial mound at Indian Mound Park, very likely the point of highest elevation in Englewood.

Indeed, may he rest in peace.

Boy it would have been mean if someone had posted the headline HILLARY DIES.

In all seriousness, though, RIP, Sir Edmund Hillary. The world needs adventurers.

The link to the story at ESPN.com reads this way:

Hillary, first to conquer Mount Everest, dies at 88

Even this was enough to make me do a doubletake.

But yeah. Rest well, Sir Ed.
