I met him many years ago at a benefit for the American Himalayan Foundation in San Francisco. One of the nicest people I've ever met, humble and down to earth. A truly inspiring and benevolent man, who used his celebrity to bring a better standard of living for many people.

RIP Sir Ed.

I know there are very few world famous New Zealanders - but he was definitely one of them.

But yes - he was a very impressive dude. A real adventurer and his commitment to the Sherpa people was truly admirable.

Perhaps, in his honor, I will eat a kiwi on top of the burial mound at Indian Mound Park, very likely the point of highest elevation in Englewood.
