I've written full lyrics for both titles, but I like "Mobile Home House Party" more, so I'd like to give my "Mr. Sandwich" lyrics to someone else, perhaps someone eager to participate, but who doesn't know what to sing about.

Check Ye Olde Lyrics Marte, yo.

As soon as I rerecord these vocals, I'm in for Mr Sandwich.

Done and in.

I seriously considered changing band names this time. I wanted to use a name like "Flapmaster Jack and the something something something". But I decided that it might cause some reviewers to wrongly blame Jack Shite for some aspect of my song.

So, FLVXXVM FLORVM it is, and its all me.

I'd be willing to do vocals, but I'm probably not the best person for your job. Look at my band's Soundclick account, listen to some songs, and send me a PM with the lyrics (and possibly sheet music) if you like what you hear.

in for Mr. Sandwich. it's a Rolling Stones meets John P. Strohm schmear.
this is also the end of an era. the day after i recorded the acoustic guitar for Mr. Sandwich the bridge came off the guitar. it was a Seagull that i bought new less than three years ago. i've written and recorded all my songfight songs on it. Mr. Sandwich was the last.

I'm in for Mr. Sandwich.

(Got a new microphone, too, so it won't be actually painful to listen to!)

Just sent in my "Mobile Home House Party." I originally wanted to include that organ I got a while back, but didn't feel like lugging my whole setup over the building where we're keeping it, so this week it's just two guitars and two voices. Well, technically three guitars, but two of them are playing a part that, when played live, can be consolidated into one part, if you're fingerpicking. I wrote the two parts together, anyway.

Hey, look at me, I'm rambling!

See y'all in the fight!

Way too late? Please. I just WROTE mine. Literally, in the last hour or so. I have insomnia, and decided to stop by and see what the title was, and Mr. Sandwich just fell out.

Mind you, it's terrible, and I'd have to record it tomorrow morning before shuttling the kids out the door (so it'd be a one-take hail mary) but there's an itty bitty chance it'll be in. Partially in a falsetto. Because I picked a terrible key, that's why.

I was happy with my Mr. Sandwich, though I do wish I had rerecorded it afterwards.

So I don't usually make this kind of post, but I was listening to my mix today and realizing it's rougher around the edges than I normally like to submit. It may not have been too late for Minty Handy - but it was clearly too late for my mixing ears.

So I'm not saying "this song sucks, but I'm submitting it anyway" (I hate when people do that). On the contrary, I like the song or I wouldn't have pushed to get it recorded last night.

What I am saying is - I hope you like the song, and please know that I am aware of it's rough edges and occasional clam. But we get one week, that's how the game is played.

If I get the energy I may make an improved mix for those interested.

eh, don't sweat your mix; at least you have one. I woke up this morning and couldn't remember the chord progression or melody, and the lyrics were written against this mysterious odd meter that I can no longer recall. In short, I may have a printout to prove I wrote the words, but I may very well have dreamed singing them.

Bummer.

Let's have a panino next time I'm in the valley.

[EDIT: Now Oats's post won't make sense]

I believe the singular is panino.

Of course, I'm back-deriving. Well, and I saw a place selling "paninos" once...a place that apparently wasn't familiar with pluralization in Italian. I'm back-deriving, again, I guess, but based on my knowledge of both languages, I think it's a safe bet. Hell, I might as well investigate.

The word "panino" [pa'ni:no] is Italian (literally meaning small bread roll), with the plural panini. "Panini" is often used in a singular sense by speakers of languages that borrow the word, including English and French, and pluralised when necessary into "paninis".

Gross. I guess it's technically okay to say, if usage trumps respect for foreign language. Yeah, man. Let's go eat paninis after we get done playing the timpanis. Ugh.

Yeah, the workers at the caf at work are all Spanish speakers, and they always give me weird looks when I order a panino. "You mean a panini?" "No, a panino!" Hahaha. I can be a pain in the ass sometimes.

well, this double fight is a lot more balanced than i thought it would be.
the prefight was dominated by mr. sandwich talk, i was suprised to see almost an equal amount of mobile home house party entries.
