Good Lord, I've been on Somesongs all frickin' day!

QotD: What's your all-time favorite song from Songfight/Sidefight/Somesongs/this whole community thingy?

Mine is without a doubt Frankie Big Face's "Scared to Death," although I must also give props to ADD's "Maybe So," and JBB's "Coming Dear," from the same project.

Also, Glenn Case's "Good Morning." And his "Pencil Me In."

As far as the more obscure, the ones that perhaps no one else on this thread knows or remembers... The Idiot Kings' "Bad Attraction," featuring Elijah Wyman, prayformojo's entry into the same fight, Blind Mime Ensemble's "Level Best," King Arthur's "Back from Brazil," Jim of Seattle's "Gin or Ginseng," Jim of Seattle's "Welcome to _____," and (remember this one?) Explode16's "Thunder Storm."

Sorry, that was a pretty long list, but I've been archive diving.

What are your favorites?

My office mate is out again today. This might free me up to listen to somesongs a little. (Don't like subjecting him to unfamiliar territory too much..and playing songs that aren't in a 'stream' kinda give away that I'm not exactly 'working' per say)

qotd: I do NOT have a SINGLE favorite. I'm way to wishy washy about what I like and it always happens in trends or moods. BUT:

Frankie's: Run Free
ADD's: cover of Take On Me
Brad Sucks': There's Something Wrong

are among my top three...but I assure you that someone will come in here and post a song and I'll be all like...OH YEAH...I JUST FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE and its ALSO ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITES.

Some of the ones I've marked as "really good" in my database:

Octothorpe's "Crinkle Binkle"
Jim of Seattle "Merry Christmas"
Frankie Big Face "One Less" (discovered while looking for songs about war)
Josh Woodward "Snooter"
Jack Shite "Third String"
Abominominous "Dinga Da Donga"
Caravan Ray "Method of Delivery"
JBB "All Tan"

...and lots of others :-)

There are a million that deserve to be on my list, but here are the ones that, for whatever reason, actually made it on to (and stayed on) the vast "mix" I listen to here at work. (Mix of many musics -- songfight and non.)

In no particular order:

Deshead "Other Places I have Lived" and "I Wish I Was So Sure"
Boltoph "Ottoman"
Wren Edward "I Like to Pretend"
Raised by Wolves "Red Door"
"Paul Moyer" (evidently Boltoph, heh.) "Pink Ribbon"
Melvin "Sign My Box"
LMLGal "Get A Life"
BLT's "Waiting for the Man" and of course his latest Pere Ubu cover, "Heaven"
the artist formerly known as Puce "Bioluminessence"
Carole Cleveland Sings "I'm Going Away for a While"
Rinky Dink "Time of No Reply"
Luke Henley "Too Far Away"
The Cow Exchange "Killing An Arab"

Hmm...there's one that really sticks out in my mind.

Paco Del Stinko - A Friendly Reminder

That and like ten Melvin songs.

And some other Paco songs. And then a lot of songs by other people, but I have to stop somewhere...you don't want me listing 40 songs or something...or maybe there was an end-of-year thread I could have done that in?

sentimental favorite: starfinger's more than soup (still)

close second: puce's "there are so many possibilities"

favorite cover of another songfighter: abominominous cover of king arthur's "put cindy back on the bus"

favorite cover by a songfighter of someone other than another songfighter: sam's cover of devo's "beautiful world"

but really, there are so many possibilities, when you know you are free, to recognize this irony. :)

also, thank god it's friday.
