Alright, it's time I came a little further out into the open.

Today is my birthday.

Question of the Day: How old do you think I am?

(Don't spoil it if you somehow already know it.)

Edit:

As I contemplate my birthday, I find myself somewhat in denial. I've had the thought that the passing of this event would trouble me. As it has begun, I find myself feeling fine, really, as disappointed and optimistic as before. One's legal calendar age is quite immaterial in so many ways. I have plans to have an uneventful day, on what ought to be a fun and exciting day. I only wish I could put it off for about four months. At least I'm in a place where I have things to look forward to.

As "bloggy" as that may have been, I present a far less self-obsessed bonus question, though it could very well have been covered in roll call at any point: What was your best, worst, or otherwise most noteworthy birthday? You don't necessarily have to narrow it down to just one if there are several.

I'll go with a 22 ... I probably would have guessed younger, but then I saw that video of you with the oven mitts ... man. You look way different than you sound.

Sounds like 30 to me.

Roll call: had my first go at guitar hero a few minutes ago - pretty fun!

Excellent question. Considering where we are, the I say the winner(s) ought to get some kind of personalized recording from me. My initial thoughts are that these are the most obvious choices:

1. A new, original song, based on criteria that you set. Bonus points if you say something other than, "Write a song glorifying me."
2. A cover of a song you like (or just think I would do a good job with, or the opposite, if your intent is to punish me).
3. A cover of one of your own songs.

Any other ideas?

All three of these sound fun, so I will consider prizes for runners-up as well!

Whoever is the furthest will get a prize of my choosing. Be careful.

25. You sound slightly like I was when I turned 25 and 26. They both had this, 'just another day' feel.

The closest I have had to a bad birthday was my 16th. It fell on the same day as the AFL Grand Final, the one the Crows won back-to-back, I think. Half of my invited friends couldn't come, as they were over in Victoria watching the game, the other half forgot to come becasue the Crows won and they got all caught up celebrating. Just fuel for the fire of Football loathing.

Yeah, I too thought he was talking like it was a 30, 40, or 50th event but then decided he was young and melodramatic (and narcissistic) enough to talk like this about 18 or 21 passings.

I'm going with 21 He's 21.

We win, now what do we get?

so remember how i was concerned i was getting a cold? well, it has stayed low-grade the whole time, just kinda there messing things up. i'm sure it affected my voice for the show, but hey, my voice isn't all that when i'm healthy! however, i just found out that i do have an ear infection. lovely! no wonder my ear feels weird.

I am posting this from my new iPod Touch. I wanted a portable Internet device of some sort which I could have in easy access without needing a full laptop with me at all times, and my phone isn't quite up to snuff for that. So I decided to try this out. (I don't think I'll be using it for media playback much though, aside from podcasts anyway.)

The keyboard is surprisingly usable, though still a bit gimpy. It does a good job of correcting typos most of the time, but some words seem to confuse it, especially when typing very fast.

I will definitely be getting the extra apps (hopefully when the sdk comes out there will be a cheap SSH/IRC client for it as well).

The web browser isn't suite as awesome as I'd hope though. It seems like actual mobile browsers do a better job of fitting things on the tiny screen. This just shrinks them down and some layouts still suck (eg songfight and phpbb in general).

Also I may be taking a business trip to japan next week, so this arrived right on time.

Qotd1: 19 or 30
qotd2: my birthdays have generally been fairly tragic. Last year (29) was awesome in that nothing of note happened, good, bad, or otherwise.
