I'll start it.
Gearing up for a busy month
House is a wreck because of remodeling
Why the hell do I start so many projects at once?
That was a rhetorical question, but answer it if you like
Started a goofy little forum, feel free to stop by
I hope to turn it into a directory of sorts to help promote sites that I love, like SF
Saw some guy using this gif in his sig. I laughed, so I must share
Image
This gif would have been great for the title, "they control the weather", lol.
Still in a weird mood from the weather. Weird songs are being written
That's about it I think

Question Of The Day:
#1. When do you "personally" think that our economy is going to stabilize?
#2. How low (in percentage) do you think houses will go down from todays market before the economy makes an upswing?

Our renovations on the new house started on Thursday. Just went to check it out and its amazing how much they've done in two days. If this continues, then maybe we'll have some positive reviews for a contractor.

I just had an eye exam for the first time in like 6 years. Prescription hasn't changed much (and I still don't need them to function everyday, I just have them to reduce a bit of eyestrain and to make night driving easier and it's not like I drive anymore), and no degenerative conditions to report. Right now I can't seem to find my irises, so I'm sitting in a dark room with my monitor's brightness all the way down and my screen zoomed in. Whee.

When I mentioned to the doctor that I don't drive anymore so that need has gone away she concernedly asked, "Is driving too much of a liability?" and I just said, "Uh, no! I just don't need to drive anymore and I never really liked it. Dealing with the other people on the road." It amazes me when people in downtown San Francisco still assume that people have a car and drive by default. Odd.

qotd1: When people stop spending beyond their means, and stop relying so much on foreign oil (ideally by switching to mass transit, bicycling, and walking for commuting... okay I know that's not feasible for most people but most people COULD try living closer to work or telecommuting more or something)

qotd2: I have no idea. People will only start selling their houses at a loss when they have no other choice, so I think we're not going to see a major housing price drop for a while, and when it does happen it'll be severe. Meanwhile, rents will continue to go up and up, at least in San Francisco. I'm casually looking at buying a condo again though I'd like to have a bit more saved up first, and the areas I'm looking at are still overpriced.

I had my eyes checked when I was a kid. I faked the test so that I could get glasses. But that's another chapter of my book, "a million little pizzas"

Of the many things that I'm not, an economist is one of them. But it seems as though things will probably get worse before they get better, and it will probably be a lenghty while. But I wonder if it will reach levels of goodness that we've seen before, as the U.S. is crumbling from the inside out. And it's our own fault.

I would imagine that real estate will always be a good investment, assuming we don't reach complete meltdown of civilization, you just have to survive the down time. Look at how crazy the prices get after they rebound, too.

Still don't wear glasses...yet.
Bringin' the stink since 2006.

Your economy wont crumble completely. Us people in rich countries will always need servants.

Economy: I have no idea. I know I'll feel better about the country as a whole as long as almost anybody other than the current guy is president...

Housing: this may sound heartless, but isn't a big part of the current housing mess that people got talked into buying houses they couldn't afford (ARMs with low initial rates, etc.)? While I wouldn't want to see anybody out on the street, I'm also not wild about the government stepping in and subsidizing these purchases... or propping up the lenders that got us into this mess.

Glasses: I have had reading glasses for about 10 years now; first indication was that I couldn't read the purple text on black background lyrics on the Purple Rain CD any more. Over the years, I've gone from a fairly mild prescription to about the strongest grocery store "reading glasses" you can get. I could wear mild correction ones for driving and other distance things, but I also have very wide peripheral vision and any sort of glasses are going to get in the way of that, and I think the peripheral vision is still more valuable.

Supposedly, there is now laser surgery (or something) they can do to correct for this "getting older" vision loss.

Super Bowl Sunday; since I really don't care about football at all, I'm quite happy they built the stadium on the opposite side of Phoenix. Maybe it's because the game is here in town, but nobody we know is having a "watch the game on my big screen TV" party; I even put out a shameless grovel to the people on our Mexico mission team, "if anybody is having a Super Bowl party and needs a couple more attendees, we'll, umm, bring beverages or something," but all I got back was somebody else who said "hey, if you find a party, let me know."

I'm also fighting off a cold for the first time in a couple years, so I probably won't even make it to church this morning.
